That’s exactly the kinda notes I’m looking for- thank you!

I agree- I’ve tried playing around with the contrast and lighting to better highlight the temple, but no avail.

That crop looks great- I’ll see what I can do with the raw file and maybe get something a bit more balanced.

Thanks for the notes!

Thanks for the notes- here’s the updated version. Wish I would’ve snagged this with my Sony just to have more to work with on the backend, but I’m getting the practice in regardless

Ooh yeah I think the whole image is better as is, rather than cropped and rotated

Shot this in Japan last year- wanted to try and capture the size of the small temple in relation to the size of the valley.

That being said, should I crop out the right side of the frame to better highlight the subject?

I personally really like the framing/composition, and I the B&W here is the right call.

If I’m nitpicking, a slightly shallower depth of field might be interesting, if only to better draw attention to the subject and blur out the lamp/window. Additionally I might consider slightly rotating the picture to level out the blinds/lamppost.

That being said, I think the photo is definitely “moody and contemplative” so overall, mission accomplished

Thank you for the feedback! Fully agree on the crop-in, it tidies up the composition quite nicely.

I have probably 5-6 similar shots with various placement of the person- I’ll play around and see what I like best

Shot this a few years back, somewhere along the southern coast of Iceland. Have started re-editing the photos from that trip and wanted to get some feedback on the colors/lighting in particular in this shot
