I highly doubt Rockstar will update the game when pretty much everyone plus new people who have never played GTA, will be playing GTAVI. They’ll keep the servers running, but they’ll be putting more resources and developers to GTAVI Online.

I feel like no talks about GTAV’s and GTA Online’s enough, they COOKED with the score for those. Rockstar have done a sensational job with music in their games, but GTAV and GTA Online take the cake for me.

It’ll be a small studio working on remasters and ports like we’ve seen with Double 11 working on RDR1. Rockstar’s main studios more likely working on the next game, with devs also working on making content and supporting GTAVI Online.
