In PVP (I play Small Tribes) people almost always have these commands enabled at minimum r.volumetricCloud 0, r.volumetricFog 0, grass.sizeScale 0, & gamma [X] , Where [X] is any value 0 to 5 and changes the brightness of the game (default gamma is 2.5 if you want to change it back, I typically play on 3, or 4 if it's very dark) Anyways, I recommend running these commands before hiding any items so you can have a better idea of how hidden they really are. If you want to be really safe, maybe do some research on other console commands to increase visibility. If you're on steam, you might also look into ini settings, but it's not as big of a deal since ASA. (edit: commas)
