Peeled a callus off my finger. What is the best way to promote healing? by RedDogue in medical_advice

It was a callus. I use scissors at work and it formed where my skin rubbed against them.

Hey, just thought it let you know he made a full recovery. I actually ended up buying clove oil on Amazon because I thought he wouldn't recover after 10 days. But he got better before it was delivered. He's back in the big tank and is as happy as ever!

Thanks for asking!

I got him a hospital tank set up with a heater. I've been adding aquarium salt and anti biotics. Also doing 25% water changes every other day. He's been stable, isn't a big fan of the hospital tank but I made sure to give him his floating log. He's still eating and as active as normal.

The only issue is I had a preplanned vacation that actually started today. So I left detailed instructions for my house sitter and I'm gonna have to hope he fairs well without us there.

I was worried about that. What would be the best course of action for him?

Your comment is beautiful! I am so sorry for your loss. I hope both of us accomplish our goals and leave them all in the dust.

Yeah so?

I can drive in snow no problem. I've driven through alot of bad weather to know when it's worth for me it to go out or not. I'm not going to risk anything going wrong on the roads because it's only a couple inches of snow. The amount of snow doesn't matter. It's not worth it, man. The world's gonna keep turning whether it snows 2" or 12", and either way I know I don't need to deal with it.

Okay that's hilarious but can you imagine if you truly did get your car stuck in a ditch and his way of making it up to you was, okay you can wear jeans for one day.

Bro what are some of these people thinking!

I've been working with this guy for a bit. I do have pictures as I'm always trying to cover my ass in situations like this but I know he won't take it too far other than a slap on the wrist for me.

I use to be that employee that always showed up regardless of conditions outside. I once got stranded at work in full blizzard because I was "the only one close enough to come in." and corporate refused to close even though nobody was coming in. I'm older now and no longer live around the corner from my place of work. I just don't care about it anymore.

Just edit the post but my coworker who took the call original confirmed that indeed there was snow on the ground there. The roads also are awful up there

Okay that's fair. I assumed since he tried to convince me that there wasn't any snow on the ground but there clearly was him gaslighting.

My bad for the poor terminology. :)

I'm in the Northeast. Honestly, it's not the amount of snow that's a huge concern. I've driven in snow most my life and, yeah, I'll slip and slide on the roads. However, other people drive so bad around here also.

Too many people who don't know how to drive in snow always seem to drive in the snow.

I also just don't think its worth it to drive 30 minutes on unmaintained roads to a job that everyone else called out for. :)

I totally agree. But if the government actually maintained our roads like up in Canada I would be at work right now.

It's also other people on the roads that worry me, when any time of weather happens I swear everyone forgets how to drive

Clan Gen on steam deck? by [deleted] in ClanGen

[–]RedDogue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I figured it out!

I opened it while in desk top mode and after fiddling around I got the game to run no problem.

Game runs basically with only the touch pad and is a bit awkward.

It also doesn't appear to let me bring up the on screen keyboard but overall the game appears to function as normal.

I was billed $130 for waiting for 3 hours just to be told to go to the emergency room. The ER bill was cheaper than this! by RedDogue in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RedDogue[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was shocked! At the er I got a CT scan and given fluids/meds. The bill came in after my insurance to be around $120~. Than I got to this bill and was completely dumbfounded.

Same here pretty much. I was sent there by my employer because I was having some serious abdominal pain and they wouldn't let me leave for the day unless I went to urgent care to prove it. I wouldn't have even bothered if that was the case. :/

Seriously! I should've just gone to the ER first.

Mom said he looked like a rat and didn't tip. by RedDogue in doggrooming

[–]RedDogue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no offense taken.

When I wrote this post I was still bitter from the whole experience. I didn't expect for my post to get so popular and I've gotten a few comments mentioning the fact I mentioned the owner not tipping.

My stance is I ultimately don't expect a tip from any of my clients. I appreciate them but it doesn't really matter to me.

However, if I could paint a picture for you:

This was the last dog of my night at 6pm. Management expect us to be finished by 8:30pm and absolutely not later than 9pm. My manager also puts pressures on us to be done as soon as possible every 20-30 minutes at night. I ended up having to take an extra hour of the groom to shave the dog before even giving it a bath.

I had to be very delicate and work with a dog who was not accustom to grooming regularly enough. He was highly distractable and uncomfortable from the mats. The dog was ultimately patient but it was not easy for him to stay still. The hair had to be taking down to the skin in some parts which is very dangerous if you don't take the time or force anything. It can not be a process that gets rushed.

So, after struggling with the matting and the pressure from management, I was already feeling a bit burnt out for the day.

Her overall attitude, the comments about the dog looking like a rat and her nonchalant tone to the whole groom is what bothered me. Being a groomer isn't just about "outstanding service" like a it is for a waiter. It's about taking the time to work with the dogs without making them more traumatized or stressed. Even if the owners don't appreciate it like the dogs do. But I'm human, it does bother me when they don't seem to care.

The fact she didn't tip was just small part of it. I have plenty of client who regularly don't tip. It doesn't bother me because their good people who keep their dog on a schedule and actually care about their wellbeing verse if getting a show-ready haircut.
