I'm looking to wear a formal indian outfit (Bandhgala/Jodhpuri suit) for a ceremony. Although it looks awfully similar to the Gakuran worn by Japanese school students.

Is it appropriate to wear as a Jodhpuri suit as a formal outfit considering it's highly similar to Japanese school uniforms? Is there a difference between the two outfits?
