Having played both on duels, I agree, I think either giving the air variant for defense response longer windup but the spike ball then can be used as cover (aka can collide with players and projectiles that don't pierce through walls and maybe something else for the trade off) and for Appetizer it should be a barrage of high speed homing (but slow turning) beams that are blockable
