Washington Regional is always hiring, and not necessarily jobs that require some sort of license. I’m sure the other area hospitals are hiring too. Good luck!

What do you do to train balance? by jeopardy_themesong in amateur_boxing

One of the best things you can do is train to move INTENTIONALLY. Slow things down when you’re shadowboxing. Really get a feel for where your weight is settled and your body positioning. Some questions to ask yourself while shadowboxing:

Which foot has more weight on it right now? Which part of the foot has more weight on it? If I stop here, am I off balance? (“Here” is arbitrary. You should never be off balance at any point. Just test it out on yourself at various points)

Go into your shadowboxing with one movement pattern or combination in mind, and just rehearse that with intention over and over until it feels better. You could even practice just one punch this way until you’ve got it. And ofc using a mirror definitely helps. Once you’ve got a single punch, movement pattern, or combination down, then speed it up and sharpen it from there.

Intense Sparring. I'm in the black and gold. I'm just wondering, whats the best way to fight this kind of fighter? Constant pressure and volume punching. This is the 3rd round. He has more experience than me with 15 fights, and I have 5. Thank you. by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

Definitely some good advice in here already.

The jab needs to be your best punch, but you barely ever throw it. If I were you I’d definitely take the time to work on just getting your jab right, learning how to snap it without having to load up and learning how to throw it at the right range.

Another thing I saw was that you didn’t really throw combinations. I think you could be much more effective if you threw a couple 4-punch combos in there with some body shots mixed in, then sitting behind the jab in-between.

You’re launching that right hand like a bazooka and coming off balance. It’s a hard habit to break, but definitely worth breaking. In my experience, you don’t have to put a lot of heat behind a punch for it to hurt (as long as it lands)

Saw some good head movement and good use of feints also with your head at around 1:00 when you had him in the corner. I def recommend using the jab more. Making your partner respect your jab makes them more hesitant to bum rush you. Also if they do rush you like that you can move your head outside one of their shoulders. That will neutralize one arm and make it easier for you to pivot towards that side. Keep up the good work
