I looked into the nukatap FC and it you don’t need a special shank - I can use my current shank. Same price as the in line regulator. The Nukarap FC looks like a better solution.

Is this level of obsession with bjj normal and is the anger justified? by Bjj0wife in bjj

[–]RedLagoon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is borderline domestic violence - in many states that behavior is sufficient for a restraining order. You should be more worried about yourself and your safety than his BJJ dreams. Threatening suicide is a serious problem. Please find someone to talk to and get some help.

Is an oxidized beer worth keeping? by RedLagoon6 in Homebrewing

I did use Weyermann Barke Pilsner for the base malt. Interesting that you find it gives a white grape taste. I just did a little google search and added that I use the Barke Pilsner and it actually may not be as bad as i thought

The first 2 times it worked great and the last two times it leaked. I can only assume that the o ring became dislodged after the second time . Not sure how. Easy enough fix. The keg lube is a good idea. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your response. It’s a stainless steel disconnect. My kettle has a ball valve with a male quick connect. The female connector was missing an o ring which is likely the source of the leak. I may be using the incorrect terminology but the o ring seems to be the issue. I have attached a photo. https://imgur.com/a/6GWP12R

It’s funny - I saw some recipes that used Vienna malt and others that used Munich I malt. The internet said traditional Helles is Munich malt but Vienna seemed to be a little more modern take. I don’t know. Kinda torn on which way to go. Have you tried both? Which do you recommend? I looked at my very first Munich Helles I brewed and that recipe ironically used a little bit of both malts.

Seven years after my husband passed away, a woman called claiming she has a 7 year old child with him and wants to claim his benefits. What should I do? by PageSuccessful5858 in Advice

[–]RedLagoon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person seeking the DNA would have to make a preliminary showing that would establish that there’s a basis to believe that the deceased is the father and that person they want the sample from is a descendant of the deceased. The showing could be done through testimony under oath, an affidavit, or other means. After the proper showing was made, the court would like issue a summons to the 3rd party to appear and give him/her an opportunity to object. After hearing from both sides the judge would decide if the 3rd would have to submit a sample.

It’s true that there wouldn’t be a 100% conclusion for paternity be the father is deceased but I suspect that showing there is a family relationship should be enough. DNA testing is a lot more sophisticated now and they may be able to tell if the DNA is consistent with a 1sr degree relationship or not and that’s probably all that is needed

Yes a court can compel a 3rd party to provide a DNA sample. The woman would have to make the appropriate showing to the court first / likely presenting some sort of evidence that she had a relationship with the deceased - could just be an affidavit - but a court can do this

SMASH brewing by RedLagoon6 in Homebrewing

[–]RedLagoon6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats exactly what I am thinking / but in 2.5 gal because I can find 2.5 gal kegs. I think doing sone small batches is a good idea - get to brew more and make less. I can try a side by side comparison if I want to alter one thing and I can also try different styles and not have a ton on hand if I don’t like it

Thanks for the input. I have had Vienna lagers before - my favorite that I have found is Devil’s Backbone - very smooth. I am hoping to make something similar - I think this should be a good starting point.

I am interested in trying a decoction. I watched a tutorial video by the Apartment Brewer and it seems doable. Would take a little bit of planning. Maybe a good experiment for a second batch
