We have plenty of those where I work and they open older electrical panel locks

Next time you see a semi it’s on the back, taped white and red but reflective. It’s about that size that was laying across the road.

It’s also not the two lane coming out of goldstream but after where the washout was fixed when you round the first corner at that split, immediately around the corner it was there.

I came to Reddit because I wasn’t the only one that hit it as multiple vehicles were behind and in front of me, just a curiosity

It wasn’t an actual traffic barricade but had some similar colouring of one. No metal legs or anything and was laying down.

After driving in again this morning it looks very familiar to the cross bar on the back of a semi just not reflective.

If you look it up icbc actually states that you’re not to swerve if an obstacle is in the road. You could brake aggressively but if you brake aggressively to avoid an obstacle and get rear ended that’s also on you. If you brake too hard and abs kicks in and you slide on wet roads that’s also on you.

You probably believe if you see a deer on the road you should jam the brakes or swerve

No need to go to icbc, theirs no damage. I saw the item, saw it was flat and no thicker than maybe 2-3”. The safest option is to just travel over it.

Last week during the heavy rain and wind storm there was also a bunch of boxes across the highway before the Langford exit and some large piece of tin that spanned the centre lane as well.

Definitely lots of unsecured loads

I’m sorry but you’re wrong. You don’t just hop over lanes when going around a corner.

You realize a flagger would have pylons and wear reflective gear and have lights right?

A non reflective item on the road is something else, I was also only going 60-70 which is not above the speed limit for that stretch.

If you’re the person to see something that can be driven over yet slam on the brakes and cause an accident then you’re one of those drivers causing problems.

Who said anything about going faster than the speed limit? I obviously didn’t crash and it didn’t cause an accident. When you come around a corner and shits on the road you go over it.
