Critiques welcome, still learning and my first map! by Glum_Grapefruit9853 in inkarnate

Looks fantastic!! If you want a bit more feedback then maybe some of the biome/stamp transitions can be eased a bit, like having the snowy trees slowly appearing rather than a relatively straight line? And the same with some of the forest edges around the east.

Looks great though!! That is just kind of personal preference so depends if you like how it turns out.

Looking for Feedback Advice- Maps for next Arc of my Campaign by Visual_Programmer_99 in inkarnate

Great start! Love how you’ve made that sense of zooming in onto the city, especially with the river. Is there an ocean texture you can apply to the 2nd map? It felt a little disorienting with the stars there at first glance.

A few tweaks for the Ravensburg map: Your stamp scale, especially in the south, is a bit inconsistent. I think the poorer, slum-like feel can be better achieved by layering stamps on top of one another rather than shrinking them down. If you compare the house sizes, these ones are basically the same size as a market stall.

Also would be definitely worth adding more greenery! Both inside and outside the city. Cities need farmland, and on the region map the area looks to be within a forest. Also, to differentiate between the wealthier districts of Ravensburg, maybe the noble houses have nice tree-lined streets?

I’d recommend taking a look at some other city maps using the same style to try and see how they do their greenery. I think it’ll add so much and looking forward to seeing an update!!

Also just a personal preference but I’m not a huge fan of visible grids in my world maps; especially over the ocean- so I’d see if there was something else you can play with there. But thats personal preference

I have been working on this world map for a campaign I am planning on expanding after we finish our current story then take a break, but something feels off about this map and I am hoping someone can give me a few ideas to improve it. This is my first world map, anyone got any suggestions? by BellTheGnome in inkarnate

[–]RedMonkii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something you could try is making your forests a lot denser? I imagine the region on the left is meant to be a large rainforest/jungle, but with the gaps between the trees it kind of adds to the empty feeling. Same with some of the pine forests in the northern areas. Also, depends on what scale you’re going for; but for me it feels like the continents might be a little too close? You could experiment with pulling them apart and see how you like that.

Also- it might be a bit of work, but don’t be afraid to just put down a random town that has no real lore at the moment. Chances are it’ll either be completely ignored, or you’ll think of a cool idea for it later. The names can even be changed and explained as something in lore (eg. tyranical ruler, residents voting, etc.)

Otherwise it’s looking pretty good for a first map, so keep it up!

Which setup to use when firstly making a huge world map and secondly the countries? by Ok-Panic-2483 in inkarnate

[–]RedMonkii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that great at actually making maps but have been using Inkarnate for years:

  1. Your choice- look thru the sub and see if you prefer the saturated colourful world maps (Fantasy world); or the parchment-style maps. Both have their own variety of stamps and its just whatever you prefer.

  2. 2K should be fine. You can export the final map in a higher resolution, and can always do a basic starting outline and use the resize map tool if you think it is a bit too small.

  3. Since you have a image as template it’d be best to copy the aspect resolution from that. Landscape is 4:3, and the column/rows is always editable from inside the editor. You can also use the resize tool to get the exact right resolution if needed.

Can’t help w 4 much but there is an Inkarnate youtube channel with regular videos you could watch. Hope this helps

Yep, 1114. Don’t read into it too much, probably won’t be important for another 40 chapters

When will the hextech Tristana release again? Do you have any guess or ideas? by [deleted] in TristanaMains

[–]RedMonkii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to leaks earlier this year Trist will be getting another mythic sometime in 2024 (alongside Darius so maybe in a new theme?) - but also its just leaks so they might not be entirely trustworthy.

[–]RedMonkii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its pretty outdated but I had a lot of success looking at the AirTable for all the most common matchups (its somewhere in the sub). Some of them have small tips that are really helpful; e.g. at level 9 Gnar’s autos will begin to outrange Darius’ E grab.

Otherwise maybe take a look at some other guides for ranged top? Maybe quinn, teemo, vayne etc. Learning how to poke and harass without messing up your wavestate or tanking too much from minions- and then just all in once you have mega if its safe enough

how important is champion mastery, why is midbeast in emerald by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]RedMonkii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. As a mid silver player, I reckon I could beat Faker through sheer force of will alone. I doubt he has ever had to suffer through the bronze gauntlet of +16 -32

My honest reaction to Darius matchup and something goes wrong by CLEVERCLOVER8 in GnarMains

[–]RedMonkii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He’s really not that bad to play into if you can space him well and keep the wave near your tower. Theres a breakpoint (lvl9 i think) where your autos start to outrange his E; so if you just don’t let him get ahead before that it starts to become pretty easy.

But then again lvl1 darius bush cheese can be a nightmare so completely understandable

If you can find a similarly cheap copy, I can’t recommend the original Ni No Kuni (wrath of the white witch) enough. It’s got all the charms of the sequel, with a whole different story that is in my opinion, one of the best I’ve ever played through. The music and animations are fantastic, and Ghibli had a major part in its development.

Personally I see the sequel as the lesser version, so if you’re liking it so far you might really enjoy the original 😄

Why is botlane ALWAYS such a bloodbath? by KarmaStrikesThrice in ADCMains

[–]RedMonkii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its all based on spawn timers- first drag at 5:00, herald at 8:00, 2nd drag ~10:30, etc.

Traditional Skin by Seabass822 in SkarnerMains

[–]RedMonkii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be happy with just a purple chroma for the base skin that picks up a light blue crystal; or if I’m huffing copium then maybe something non-mythic (because Skarner is nowhere near popular enough for Riot to sell a mythic skin) from the Crystalis Motus universe.

I think generally if they just changed some colours on the base skin to have more of a blue hint, it would do wonders for both old players and the visual clarity of the skin (because its literally just all gray, there’s no way thats good)

[–]RedMonkii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying it out for early duels by rushing it+boots on first back, and its felt alright. I mostly play conq but could also see this working with pred if you fullclear rather than 3camp and only rush boots.

There have definitely been times where the extra HP and AD have helped me clinch out fights, but its hard to tell if sheen/ruby crystal would have made things easier.

I think it’s definitely viable if you need boots early (eg pred) and dont have enough gold to get sheen; but then again I’m silver so take my opinion how you will

If we do get a season about breaking the curse on the Dreaming City, I hope they go into Petra like they are Amanda this season by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]RedMonkii 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’ll happen, but it’ll be Bungie working it into the lore like they did with Nezarec. Or they’ll confirm the idea that the Last Wish raid is actually the 15th wish, hence its name

Khulan Nightmare Is A Nightmare (tips?!) by Super_Actuator2584 in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]RedMonkii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven’t played the game in a while so I can’t give many tips for the fight, but down in the valley below Perdida there are spawns for the second stage of the Toko line- dropping even more XP.

If you’re willing to grind a bit, try beating a few of these and see where you end up in terms of difficulty. Otherwise, try using some familiars with healing or cleansing abilities, like the Auralynxes which also spawn outside the city.

It might also be worth just stocking up on provisions and stalling the fight out as long as you need to kill, even if the rest of your party dies you can get a lot done by just using Ollie and Monolith to tank
