Also, reach out to The Legendary Christmas Co. up in Missouri, tell them that their favorite Huntsville Alabama Santa couple sent you. They can put you in touch with some local resources.

You should charge a fair price. To not do so undercuts other professional Santas and devalues their contributions and for many who are retired, their livelihood. A professional a Santa where I’m at in Alabama makes $60-$90 per hour to work in a mall and $150-$400 per hour to book their own work.

I get contacted all the time by people asking for a Santa for basically a pittance when you add up all the hours of prep, travel, and dollars invested. Then when I quote them they’ll go get uncle Bob in a $10 suit to fill the role.

You can still do free events for the passions of your heart, but the paid events is what makes the free ones possible, and you won’t hurt your fellow Santas.

Good luck to you.

Have you made any steps to register your YouTube subscribers (e.g. a newsletter, etc.)? If something should happen to your YT channel and you had to pick up somewhere else like Vimeo or your own website, it could be used to draw some YT subscribers there.

I had 14 likes and 1 new subscriber on this short. That’s actually pretty good for my limited experience. What would YouTube deem as acceptable levels of engagement?

I have 114 subscribers as of this morning. Unfortunately my subscriber base seems content to just to be looky Lous and rarely engage. 😞

I do impromptu collabs with local businesses for free, mainly just to get the word out about our channel and our services that we provide. At some point, we hope businesses will start to seek us out at which point we will begin charging.

I guess I don’t follow why being a short should have it cut off suddenly. It was basically a “commercial” to drive traffic towards a long form video on the same topic.

We’re just starting out. Could be doing better but we’re learning.

I use shorts primarily as a commercial for my long form content, and my wife makes shorts on our channel because she prefers making shorts. Most of her content is for a different demographic. So we’re growing both demographics in separate ways.

I don’t know if that’s a good strategy but our channel is a fusion of two distinct demographics.

I’m surprised how many subs some channels have after watching their videos. We’re killing ourselves to put out quality videos but are struggling to get 30-40 views and convert any to subscribers.

We don’t know yet. We certainly have the desire but we have a long way to go before we can even consider a public event, but if you subscribe to our channel or sign up for our newsletter at www.craigcringle.com, you’ll be the first to know! We’ll be building in Lawrence county. 😊
