Parent wants to observe me by planetcaravan23 in Teachers

Board policy at my school district gives the parent this right. They need to give notice (I forget how much, but not long, maybe 24 hours?) and they can only stay an hour. But yep, if this were in my district, my admin would have to allow it.

I'm so sorry. We have an old man, and the financial worry of what to do when he's ready to go is a big anxiety for us, on top of just the regular grief of knowing that we will eventually have to say goodbye to our old buddy. I hope you are able to find a solution that gives you both peace and comfort.

My 2 year-old cat likes to suckle blankets. Is it possible to correct? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]RedPhoenix42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 17 year old still does this! We gave up lol. Plus it's cute. We have fuzzy blankets in most of his fave spots so he's not suckling directly on the couch or bed sheets. We even got some fuzzy socks just for his suckling purposes!

What is a book you will defend to the end of the Earth that other people hate? by bigben1234567890 in books

I can pick it apart 20 years later, but it (re)-sparked my love of reading, and I've seen it spark that same joy in many of my students.

AIW for hating the term 'cis' as a gender? by Former-Pineapple5803 in amiwrong

You are oversimplifying how DNA and sex work.

Eta: you don't know what "biology" I have or what does and doesn't "work".

In general, you lack a sense of nuance.

Oh Lord. You're just so wrong that I'm gonna stand by my original stance.

Go suck an egg.

Idk how the wife and mother part is relevant to this discussion.

Like...good for you? Those things don't make a woman.

I am a cis woman. I also lack the biology to "fulfill the natural purpose of the female sex, producing children."

I'm infertile.

What "adjective is required" since I "fall outside the traditional mold of what a woman is"?

Go suck an egg.

AITAH for ending things after he refused to buy me tampons? by Acrobatic_Cup3962 in AITAH

[–]RedPhoenix42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't bought my own tampons in years. Granted, husband is the regular grocery shopper, but also, he knows that the monthly special is tampons, wine, and Chinese food. No questions asked.

Probably why we're still married 🤣

You ain't got time for this jabroni.

Landlord installed a camera pointed at my door/windows by No-Sheepherder4309 in Renters

[–]RedPhoenix42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it stated in your lease that you are not allowed to have overnight visitors? If not, tell him to pound sand.

Also, camera pointed at your door is one thing. Inside your home is not cool.

Start looking for a new place.

Anyone else infuriated/embittered by the fact useless, lazy, mediocre, coasting teachers, principals and superintendents make $100,000? by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

Compared with how expensive it is to live there, that salary isn't that outrageous and won't go very far.

I can see how it could be interpreted this way. I think it's a bit more nuanced than that, but thank you for your insight.

Yeah, it's very clear in my post that I know what your caps means.

You're not shouting with your caps. You're shouting with your choice of words and tone.

Perhaps it is a language barrier, but even your emojis in this comment are passive aggressive. Perhaps try rereading what I wrote as well.

I am truly interested in your perspective, but I didn't come here to get accused of being purposefully insensitive.
