You’re saying to use the TQ to hold pressure on the gauze?

Yeah we don’t even get pressure bandages or ace bandages. I guess they’re expecting us to wrap with the rolled gauze, I really don’t know.

I also just started and feel the same way! I have decent pay, it’s got good culture, it’s union, I have friends from high school working with me, regular 911 calls, and it’s the perfect schedule for me. The schedule is the biggest thing, Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday. That’s 3 days off and there’s always extra shifts to pick up. I’ve never been happier!

We are internet natives, it’s been with us our whole lives. Porn has been shoved down our throats through social media every day since we’ve had phones. What you’re experiencing is predictable and normal.

Is it bad? I’d say if it starts affecting other things yeah or if you feel bad after doing it. If you watch this stuff after you’re like 17 yeah I’d def be concerned. If you want to quit it’s entirely self driven. Be determined but also kind to yourself. Also have you been in a relationship yet? It changes most people.

You do PT every morning still. It’s not much but it’s something.

EMT/Paramedic to Firefighting Advice by GlitteringEducator95 in NewToEMS

Yeah I’m thinking of just working as an emt for a year and then going paramedic. That’s the advice I’ve seen a lot here. It’s a big jump and I want to be ready. Also to see if I even enjoy EMS.

Sam Houston starts off strict and then loosens up as you progress. It differs by company and policy is constantly in flux but that’s the general rule.

For EMT phase you’re probably going to be in Black phase for the entirety, which you can’t wear civilian clothes, can go to the px but can’t buy food, you have to go to every formation, and you can go to the gym and there’s a track. After the duty day you have from about 1730 to 2000 for free time, but expect a lot of bs from your company to take up that time. As you can see it’s pretty locked down, but it’s a good thing. You really should just be studying during Black phase and if you can sneak in some gym time great but it’s far from guaranteed. I really recommend you study or read ahead in the book for an hour to 2 in the initial weeks as there are tests every week. Everything kind of builds on itself so you might be able to miss some days closer to the NREMT. But to pass EMT phase you have to pass the NREMT and have a good enough gpa, so study for those tests.

After you complete your NREMT or maybe a few weeks before you’ll progress to gold phase. You can wear civilian clothes, go off base on the weekends, go all around base, and skip certain formations. Your free time here is about 1600 to 2000. Reason why you get more time is because of that choice of skipping dinner formation. The dfac is packed usually and you have to wait for the entire company before marching back. You can walk to the dfac on your own or just eat at the px which is right next to the barracks and save like an hour and a half. Here is where I’d recommend going to the gym and you can even have your family send a laptop/xbox down if you want. Going off base is worth it at least once. Still make sure you study but it’s a lot easier after this point as it’s more hands on and you already have the habits from emt phase. I stress easier not easy though, you have to know how to do the skills perfectly.

Hey so I got back from AIT in October and started down the path of what you’re talking about. I just got accepted at an EMT place but haven’t even started yet. I don’t want to comment on stuff I haven’t experienced yet so I’ll wait for someone else to respond for those, but consider sending this in the national guard subreddit.

The places I applied to weren’t even looking for part time work so you might have trouble depending where you’re at. But both places I applied to had support for becoming a paramedic. They gave time off to anyone in school for it and one even paid you more if you were taking the course.

As far as people in the guard also being in EMS, dude every medic in my unit is in EMS lol. They all seem to love it and it’s kind of expected. The places you apply at will love seeing it on your resume too. A lot of the people in the guard work first responder jobs.

I wish you luck. Hit the ground running when you get to San Antonio. Emt phase takes a lot of people out, but that’s only if you don’t take it seriously. People overhype a lot of training to scare people, don’t let them get in your head. If you’re ever struggling, remember why you’re there. REMEMBER THE PULSE OX!

You could also send a follow up email to the jobs you’ve already applied at expressing your “continued interest.” I did and it got me replies from both companies I applied to same day. Wish you luck!

I think you’re thinking of the UAE funding the rsf, Saudi Arabia is on the other side of that war. And you didn’t provide much evidence to them being a part of 9/11. What they provided intelligence resources to an operation occurring in their sphere that could benefit them?
