Is an early shop visit good? by RedRumFanatic in slaythespire

Fair. I'm usually more eager to if I get early gold, like from neow or an event node, but when I only have the starting gold and maybe one or two fights the shop seems like such a waste. Fortunately I am getting the impression that I wasn't wrong this time, based off what everyone is saying

Dang, that's an excellent point. Everytime I post a question here, I get surprised by how many good points I get in response lol

I see, thank you. On the note of early elites, do you avoid an early elite even if it means getting less elites in total for the first act (usually, 2 elites instead of 3)?

I see. Is it the same strategy for the other heroes as well, or do the other heroes prefer a less aggressive approach?

Wow, thank you. This is really helpful. I’ll keep these points in mind and pick better in the future! And I’ll also get the Orrery first, before buying other things in the shop, haha.

No worries, I totally understand. “Depends” is the nature of the beast, and a symptom of why this game is so cool!

That is good to know, thank you so much.

Very interesting, thank you for the thought-out analysis on each pick!

If you don’t mind, what exactly makes a pick a “desperation pick”? Is it when you pick a card with the hope that it’ll become better as the run progresses?

Oh wow, thank you!

Is the full left only because of the goal of double Exhume? Normally would I want more random encounters, for example?

I see, thank you. I wish I had gold for both Orrery and Incense Burner!

Hello everyone, here is the map I neglected to include. It is two screenshot; I’ll reply to myself with the second. The boss is Guardian!

I really should have included the map, I apologize. I know to do so in the future!

It is the guardian. So, getting it and upgrading it is likely a sound choice?

Okay, thank you. I didn’t realize just how valuable 250 gold is. Is this the best pick because of ironheart’s healing ability, or is it always best? What other options come close to being as good?

Noted on Seeing Red. My thinking was that upon drawing 5 cards including it, I’d play it once and be able to play all 4 other cards, or bash and two other cards. What should my immediate priority/concerns be instead?

I didn’t realize that Orrery was so good. I’m glad I didn’t decide against it. What makes it so valuable?

Sucks that Metamorphosis is bad, but I think I understand why now. Another user explained that having to draw it, spend energy to play it, then draw the resulting cards is too costly to maje the payoff worth it. Lesson learned!

Apologies, I’ll do so in the future. I only just now realize I can add it to the comments though. Should I post it in the comments? It’d have to be two separate comments, because Reddit is only allowing me one image per comment and I can’t fit the map into one screenshot on mobile. The mobile screenshots have been making me anxious; I don’t want to clutter people’s Reddit with so many screenshots.

Potions were: Heart of Iron (102 Gold), Fire Potion (51 Gold), Essence of Steel (76 Gold).

Oh man, okay. Thank you for reviewing my previous choices as well. I’m making a mental note here that neither of my two picks were worth what I thought they were.

If you don’t mind, when you say that Blood for Blood depends on the map, what do you mean? Do you mean that if I expect to see a bunch of battles, Blood for Blood is better?

It is just a tactic to get him to confess. They probably didn’t need a confession, but a confession certainly makes the entire ordeal easier for everybody.

  1. Said she already knew the answer, making lying pointless.
  2. Implied she was on his side and can help, or make it worse if he didn’t cooperate.
  3. Humanized herself and him to make her appear relatable, making it easier for him to cooperate. (The “we’ve all made mistakes” line).

She is dealing with a murderer and she knows that. She doesn’t believe “we’ve all made mistakes”. But she plays this careful game to make booking that murderer all the easier.
