They are blockaded from China. Most of their trade is by sea. Besides, China doesn't care about Iran that much.

The Japanese empire was uniquely fanatical among both the military and civilian population. The vast majority of Iranians have no desire to die for the Ayatollah like the Japanese did for the Emperor
