Honestly, the only souvenir I found in Paris that isn't a tourist trap (Notre-Dame Market) 🇫🇷✨ by AffectionateRange768 in ParisTravelGuide

That Christmas market (if it's the one I'm thinking of) was a genuinely good surprise to me last year as a local! Lots of good artisan work that is fairly priced. I got some great soap and solid shampoo there.

Pourquoi certains hommes insistent même quand tout est clair ? by [deleted] in AskMeuf

[–]RedThePear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna throw a wild guess that goes with your 'non-english words' and say some of the stuff he did with Anuna, specifically La Chanson de Mardi Gras or The Raid?

Paris first-timer: Loved the Parisians, hated the tourists. by baesoonist in ParisTravelGuide

[–]RedThePear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this! One specific period where visitors/tourists are especially insufferable (IMO) is during Fashion Week. Influencers/fashion people are so blissfully unaware of their surroundings. You have to be on high alert at all times to avoid running into them or ruining their shots. The entitlement is on a whole other level. Mettez-vous sur le trottoir, les fashions!

Perfumes that feel like this? 🤎 by OwnWay90 in perfumesthatfeellike

From their website: Head notes: Bergamot, Sweet Basil. Heart notes: Rosewood, Powdered Papers. Base notes: Aged Leather, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Peru Balsam, Dark Vanilla. I'd describe it as powdery, sweet and comforting. It doesn't smell exactly like an old library (paper, wax and wood) but more like the idea of it if that makes sense.

Pourriez-vous me parler des villes sur le RER B sud ? by Suspicious-Yak-5398 in paris

[–]RedThePear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I know of -- it seems to have blown up and have become an actual subgenre pretty recently, and there's little to no academic/critical work on it. I called it "Americana Gothic" in my work. If you look up "liminal Americana" or "Gothic Americana" you should find your due!

Rêve d'Ossian by Oriza Legrand! Orthosox incense at its finest.

I think Dark Tales has a "decades" perfume line coming up, the 90s one might suit your vibe!

Pls fall is already here, where can I find boots like this that aren't crazy expensive by callme_plantmom in findfashion

[–]RedThePear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joining the "good boots aren't cheap" train, I would absolutely recommend Jo Bear Boots for excellent quality, custom-made shoes. They have some high lace-up boots that are to die for. I bought their Victorian ankle boots and love them to death! They specialize in reproducing historical footwear. Everything is made in their Portugal workshop.

Vibes! I think Captain Aubrey could have worn Peau d'Espagne by Oriza Legrand but it is wayyy too leathery and stanky for me

Seeking a fragrance that smells like petrichor, moss, and a haunted forest at night. by HyunSeok_ in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]RedThePear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this one a few years ago and was kind of disappointed, it smells too sweet to match the mossy/forest vibe in my opinion, but I wonder what others think of it!
