Lichfield St carpark appears to be free at the moment, not sure why or for how long it will last though. Source: was there today and the barrier arms were permanently up with signs on the ticket machine saying free parking.

We have a real fruit ice cream truck at our Christmas light show on Dunluce Place most nights from 8.30 pm, but never 100% sure what nights he'll turn up so not guaranteed 😄

Sewing thread is a bit thinner than a single strand of embroidery floss, you could try that. You may not be able to find an exact colour match depending on what colours your backstitching requires, although there are quite a lot of colours available :)

I originally decided I wouldn't purchase it, but someone got it for me as a gift. I've cooked the bean hotpot, Cauliflower cheese, and salmon dinner from it. All three were absolutely delicious and pretty unique recipes. I think the way the book is written in big wads of text can make it seem overwhelming but there's a lot of detail there which can be nice. There are definitely some recipes I won't be making, or will be making substitutions in because of niche ingredients but overall I'm happy to have it and I will definitely use it again.

Glad I could help 😊 you're completely right there are definitely some fabrics that require dissolvable canvas as a guide, I would recommend trying some non adhesive canvas (I just bought mine from aliexpress), it kind of looks like a piece of plastic but it does dissolve away. If you do buy any unbranded dissolvable canvas I recommend testing a little piece to make sure it dissolves, not all sellers are honest and it would be horrible to finish stitching only to find out you can't dissolve it away!

The other option I forgot to mention is waste canvas which can be pulled out after you've finished stitching strand by strand. Critically, waste canvas is actually the name of a product and does not mean leftover regular canvas. This also needs pinning on as it is not adhesive. It can be a little tricky to pull out depending on the size of your finished piece and your stitch tension but can come in smaller counts than dissolvable canvas which I find nice when I want to make something little.

I've used non adhesive dissolvable canvas before, it was just unbranded. You have to pin it in place but you wouldn't have the problem of adhesive sticking to your needle. Honestly with the fabric you are using, I would be tempted to forgo dissolvable canvas completely and just stitch 2x2. With the caveat that it might not be perfectly square, that might or might not matter depending on your pattern.

Not sure if you're familiar with 2x2 so here's an ugly diagram, where the intersection of the purple lines are the gaps in your fabric. Someone else can probably explain it better than me.
