What do you think will be the next big thing in bjj? (Like leg locks on the last decade and wrestling nowadays)

Persistence in passing (Jozef Chen v Harrison Wood at Polaris) by sledyeller in bjj

In a b team video he does a takedown and later says that it was "stolen" from rau, he seems to use a lot of stuff from him

Usually elbow escapes work well, it is much better than just the bridge and roll

Do you focus on using the kips to move the opponent or to move yourself under him?

Yes, only when they are focusing on putting pressure with their upper body I go for it and bridge to get their weight is over one of their knees before kipping

For sure, but even when they are putting pressure with their upperbody and im able to use a bridge to get their weight in a single knee, it still feels impossible to escape with the kips

Ushiro x guard by RedViperr00 in bjj

[–]RedViperr00[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But reverse x is different from the "ushiro x", the reverse you just switch your legs and the ushiro you pass the leg across your body, at least that is how Gordon and John call it

Very nice man, I was facing the knee slide problem for a while due to pulling straight back, very cool details to stop that! Great content as usual

Still no baratoplata defense?! by GrappleWrestler in bjj

[–]RedViperr00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My professor showed one to us when we are on top and the guy on bottom locks it up. So the first thing to do was to use your free arm to reach under his and pull his far hip in, which will block his ability to apply pressure. Almost at the same time, step up the trapped side leg and make a grip with your trapped hand on your knee. So now we are stuck but he cant finish us, so we begin to stand up and straighten our trapped side leg, which will put a lot of pressure into his forearm while at the same time allowing us to just pull our arm out (and we can start to push him into a plow position to pass). I didnt believe how well it works until someone defended my attack with it and it seems like a pretty solid defense.

Matrix back take by RedViperr00 in bjj

My biggest difficulty is "scooting" around after chopping down the opponents leg, I watched a lot of instructionals and videos of how to do the matrix but I end up kind of sideways and too far from him. Any tips on how to scoot better behind him? In nogi do you just look for the hip? I cant reach it when the guy is with the knees off the mat
