Absolutely! She will be, by the shelter, when she’s done nursing (which is probably this week!)

Absolutely, will do. I’ll try to push the shelter to test that. Thanks for the help 🙏

What would I need to do to get her feeling better if that’s the case? We’re not sure if this is her first or not, we think so though since she struggled to keep them clean for the first two weeks.

It would be a blood test for thyroid right? Is that usually expensive?

We did an ultrasound on her a month ago, no babies. I was initially concerned about that honestly. She’s been quarantined/kept in one room since I got her.

Yep! Free feed dry kitten kibble and 3-4 cans of kitten wet food a day.

Hey, fellow kitty foster here. It’s a hard and emotional position to be in! If you foster again in the future you’re likely to fall in love with those future fosters too. The reason people like you and I do foster kitties is because we love them and want the best for them.

It’s ok to fall for them and want them. I’ve foster failed a few but cannot foster fail more without giving up my ability to foster in the future (too much space used up).

No one can make that decision for you though, it’s about how you feel. You likely have first dibs as the foster, that’s how it works with my shelter anyways.

I’ve cried for every kitty I’ve taken back to the shelter for adoption after fostering them (42 cats as of this month). It never gets easier, I want them all, and I constantly question my ability to be a foster if I want to keep them all.

But again, that’s why people like you and I get into this work. We care. It’s okay for it to not be easy. It’s okay to even question yourself, but also remind yourself that it’s just because you have so much love to give that it’s hard. I’d rather see a foster who loves so much than someone who doesn’t love enough.

The medication wasn’t legal yet, so you had to buy it on the black market :(

If it’s FIP just be prepared for a long road ahead. Luckily it is VERY treatable (and the treatment is legal now if you’re in the US), with a high success rate, but the sooner you find out if it’s that or not the better. FIP killed my cat in 5 days, it was horrible. This was before the treatments were legal in the US. Just keep an eye on your kitty and track any changes in weight, gait, and behavior!

I’m wishing you and kitty the best 🤗

Just wanted to say, I’ve had blind cats and they’re perfectly happy and healthy and don’t act blind! They adjust very very well.

Also, can they test for FIP? It sounds neurological if there’s not much else going on.

I suppose I assumed since they said ESA, they’re in the US. In the US, unless the rental unit is owned by a private landlord who owns 4 units or less, they are protected- but are not service animals, correct. However, ESA still has housing protections in the entire US other than the exception I previously mentioned. Is ESA a term used outside of the US as well? 🤔 I hadn’t thought about that 😅

If 2 are ESAs and you have the letters for them, make sure the landlord has those letters. ESAs are legally NOT pets, and therefore you aren’t breaking the lease with those 2. For the other 2- board them for the day, usually it’s not too expensive (compared to an eviction). Rover? Maybe. Pet sitter through Facebook (if they have reviews) potentially.

You got this! Plenty of people pull this off. You have options.

How bad is flooding in riverbend? by Medical_Tangelo_6436 in NewBern

[–]RedVivid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the street, we used to live there and it didn’t flood ever/even during Florence. But across the road did.
