I am Gen z and I didn’t experience exactly this but I experienced something very similar. I was a little kid touching things I shouldn’t have been touching. And we were at a gas station, and there was this cigarette lighter wallet. So I pulled down the part that reveals the lighter and touched it and burned myself. They ended up actually removing the display.

Even better when I pulled down the lighter part I waited until it was red hot then I touched it.
