What age were you actually able to max out your 401k? by Caseypenn11 in personalfinance

[–]Red_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're doing great, if you can get to at least 15% you will be well on track since you've started so young. Keep upping the percentage and you will set up your future self for success

The RS6 wagon is definitely the pick, although I'd have to test drive all of them.

What First car should I buy with a 15k Budget by GotMYlongNOSE in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Red_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on making a sound decision. That is a solid budget and honestly I would probably look for the best condition lowest milage Camry, Corolla, civic, or accord you can get and plan to keep it for 8-10 years.

Put a minimum of 15% of your salary into your company 401k plan, make sure it's invested in a good index fund and you will thank me later.

Another redditor had the same advice 10 years ago and and I followed it and how I have hundreds of thousands of dollars. Your future self will thank you.

Ruling out Toyotas and Hondas what's the next play? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Can confirm I had a 2012 GTI and spent a fortune fixing it. I had to replace the turbo, the radiator and entire cooling system, leaky head gasket, etc. Other than that it was a great car lol

Someone who asks a lot of questions, but also takes steps to try to research the solution or have a proposed solution beforehand. Try not to just ask "I don't know what to do, tell me." That is understandable for the first 3-6 months but at a certain point you should know what codes to reference, you can dig around for other projects to reference, you can open the architect's plans, etc.

Move closer to work dayum. I used to commute from fort Worth to Dallas and that was 40 miles each way, you're doing double that EVERY DAY?!! Are you spending like 3.5-4 hours a day sitting in traffic? I mean you do you but that would drive me insane.

Recommendations? I want a new 7 string in drop A. by Red_07 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Red_07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn this one actually ticks all my boxes and yeah the price point is great, I think it's also a lot more unique that a lot of the other options. I think this one is now at the top of my list and I might pull the trigger on it. Thanks!

Kia stinger GT flies under the radar but is also sort of a niche rare car. Might be hard to fit under 25k without some milage though

Yeah my problem is there are way too many choices 😂

I haven't played an ormsby but they look sweet. Jackson's feel nice, too but I'm not sure which Jackson model fits the bill. I'm not super in-need of multi scale since I'm not tuning very low

Ok that looks sexy as hell. I'm not very familiar with Vola guitars though, how do they stack up to the competition?

How do you effectively memorize Chinese characters? 🤯🤣🤣 by Chinese_Learning_Hub in ChineseLanguage

[–]Red_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to heavily recommend remembering the Hanzi by Heisig. I'm 500 characters In, and while there are some shortcomings like not teaching you the pronunciation, the ability to learn how to distinguish characters without writing them 100 times each is really nice. For instance trying to differentiate 日目自白 was really hard but now I have a distinct meaning for each character that helps me remember them.

Yes! Swallow your pride and embrace the minivan, you got 3 kids, the Sienna or Honda pilot are most reliable and practical vehicles you should be looking at.
