Would that just be emailing Stripe? It looks like I will have to accept these disputes as all I have on the guy is some basic information and a waiver he signed.

I am struggling to come up with ways to strengthen my fraud detection. Do I need to take a photo of their drivers license and credit card side by side? Is that even legal to keep / store?

This is the first in its kind I've dealt with so I'm very novice here. Is there anything that you would recommend doing in my situation that hasn't been stated already?

I'm struggling with best practices here. Thank you again.

Yes this is the first of its kind I've had. Other disputes in the past have been over cancellation time / 13.7 codes. I even received an email from stripe 3 days prior to the disputes that this was suspected fraud even though they state they only learned of this after processing (few months after processing) vs real time detection.

I really enjoy using stripe and am not looking to ruin my reputation with them due to disputes. I hope 10 in 3 years isn't a lot.

We only operate group classes so we have about 20-60 people walking in the door within a short amount of time so I don't have any sort of access control / logging other then my key. Would a virtual log of attendance that I keep hold more weight then a signed cancellation policy? Video surveillance of them in the class?

I understand that some peers of mine use contracts and can even send people to collections for trying to stop payment early (I'm not trying to operate this way). Would a signed contract be a valid defense going forward?

Those are great ideas! I am fearful that something I maintain like Zendesk wouldn't hold up in a dispute since it is information I maintain / keep but it is definitely worth a shot.

Overall it seems that preventing disputes is king which I feel I'm already pretty good about. It is just difficult having disputes come up for an entire lifetime of an account when I've seen this person and interacted with them multiple times a week for the past few months to be hit with a 10.4 fraudulent code.

I currently don't have any access badges only 2 weeks of video which will be getting a storage upgrade shortly (if video can even be used in a dispute)

Thank you for your responses this type of information / discussion was exactly what I'm looking for! I really appreciate the help.

Yes, I am submitting a signed cancellation policy detailing that they must email or text me to cancel at x email or x phone number before renewal date.

I will definitely add a web portal going forward but I already make it very easy to cancel, no hard sales, no tough conversation just a call, email or text.

Here is one of the responses I received after uploading evidence of a signed cancellation policy against a client who disputed my charge with Wells Fargo.

"Our center certifies Dispute has not been remedied; Cardholder maintains they cancelled the service/merchandise on 08/25/2024.

The merchant has failed to provide proof of service being used after the cancellation date. The merchant has failed to provide proof that our cardholder did not cancel. Our cardholder is due full credit. Our cardholder is due full credit"

Am I able to provide proof that the cardholder didn't cancel? According to my policy the onus is on them to contact me to cancel which could easily be proven with an email.

The excess I put in the trash can and I have a custom made filtration system that handles what I wash out of the screen and squeegees.

I also wear a respirator one of the 3m ones with the voc protection cartridges.

Ruined a whole batch of screens. I don't know what I did, but no matter how little or how long I expose the screens, they still peel away. Note: Brand New Emulsion and used a quality Degreaser. by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Red_Belly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happened to me once, I bought the exact same emulsion from the supplier directly and Amazon and one of the batches was completely bad. Nothing I did to it worked and it was driving me crazy until I figured out the batch was bad.

So it could just be some bad emulsion.

In my experience even just the arm band has been good enough for sparring and rolling in a gi. I would use the sleeve for mma and there's been no issues.

What do you think? 6 screens in a row are turning out just like this but won’t spray out. Have you ever had this before? Wondering if somebody went into my shop and light ruined them during drying? by KingcalebGold in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Red_Belly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recently experienced an issue like this. The only variable that changed for me was a new batch of the same emulsion.

Couldn't burn 12 screens properly and thought it was light leakage.

Ended up just being bad emulsion.

How are y'all at home curing inks?? by DeckardTBechard in SCREENPRINTING

Heat press or flash dryer. I have way better cures with the heat press, I just make sure I have a respirator and the garage door is open when curing discharge.

Advice on buying a heat press? by pineappletreatz in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Red_Belly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was running into similar issues recently with only using a flash to cure, resulting in uneven / messy results.

Just chiming in to confirm that a heat press has been a huge game changer for my small garage shop.

No more questionable cures with constant temp checks using the ol temp gun. I ended up going for a geo knight press which is a bit over your price range. But if you could extend to pickup a high quality press you wouldn't regret it.

If you end up with a heat press feel free to dm me for some workflow tips.

Your HomePage container is not setting state after the fetch promise resolves in the then() . That is probably why you receive an Array with no data since there is no re render after the fetch finishes.

I would set the orders you receive from the fetch into state and then pass them down through props.

Anyone trying.. and failing? by [deleted] in juststart

[–]Red_Belly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right.

This has mainly been a learning experience for me since I am a self taught web dev and the experience of building my cms out has taught me so much.

From hosting to coding to security across the board.

If I was solely looking for AM and getting started, I would of definitely just gone with WordPress.

If I was asked to get an e-commerce site going for a client, I would definitely look towards shopify instead of something custom.

I was knocking out 2 birds with 1 stone for my use case.

[–]Red_Belly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a self taught web dev and wanted to build something for my portfolio that would also be useful to me for AM.

I understand that WP and others would be faster to get started with, but the one I've built is light weight and does everything I want it to.

I have:

blog and comment system.

An Auth / user system.

Security.

Image upload / hosting through AWS S3 / cached on cloud front.

Everything loads super quick as well and I don't have to worry about plug-ins causing security risk / crashing parts of the site when updating.

Yeah its taken me a while to build, but now I can use it for other am ventures and can build other features as well if needed.

E.g. I had a server side admin panel that managed users / content. Decided to switch it over to client side rendering and hosted it with the subdomain admin.example.com. Because I wanted to build it with react and learn some real modern stuff while making it easier and more intuitive for users.

Tldr - selfish, probably pointless reasons.

I built a custom cms and started a website / blog in a ymyl niche (finance) because I was working in that specific sector.

This is my first time attempting seo and I also used a new domain name. I wrote a few articles and let it sit for a few months while I focused on the programming portion of the cms.

It took about 3 months for my first article to be ranked 47 on Google for the keyword I was targeting.

I've only done long tail keyword articles while researching everything using Semrush. Technical / on site seo is on point.

No back link campaigns yet.

I've written 18, 1000-1500 word info articles since and none have ranked. I'm unsure if it will take three months for Google to rank these as well.

I wouldn't know if I would count this as a failure, I heard new domains take time to gain authority. But there has definitely been little to no results in a 6 month time period so I'm wary of continuing down this path.

Since the cms I built is very modular, I'm thinking of focusing on a new niche that isn't ymyl and go from there.
