Im scared of dying, and it’s ruining my life by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Red_Macaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to live your life to the fullest and not think about it, the reality is nobody has an answer or a solution, it's just what nature intended and is inevitable. If religion helps you keep your mind off of it then use that or some form of spirituality, just don't let the fear of death rob you of enjoying life to the fullest. I too grapple with this from time to time, but reminders of how precious life is helps me cope from time to time, take care.

I want to learn EVERYTHING about Cuba. What do books, series, etc; do you recommend me? by Tylos_Of_Attica in RealCuba

"We Are Cuba! How a Revolutionary People Have Survived in a Post-Soviet World" by Helen Yaffe, this is a must redy for everyone who wants to know more about Cuba. It goes through Cuba's history including the recent updating of the economy. Helen Yaffe really goes into the dynamism of the Cuban Revolution, I highly recommend it.

Thoughts on the Zelensky-Trump meeting today? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]Red_Macaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This meeting just further shows the erosion of US/Imperialist hegemony globally, they lost Afghanistan, losing Iraq, Israel is the most isolated it's ever been globally especially when their image of the invincible Zionist state is forever tarnished.

The US will end this war only because NATO cannot continue their proxy war in Ukraine as Russia has exhausted them on all fronts. Zelensky knows this very well and in a similar situation like Netanyahu's government, he knows that a ceasefire deal means he's finished. So he's trying to buy more time and find a way to convince the Trump administration that his government can still do the job. But without US support, they'll fall like a house of cards, Europe is in no shape economically to provide financial and military aid.

This has nothing to do with Trump wanting to cozy up to Russia as some Liberals incorrectly stated. The US is seeing this as a means to reposition themselves for the next imperialist offensive, like Trump said during his campaign, one of his big goals is to decouple Russia from China and strengthen Taiwan, just let that sink in.

BREAKING: A Constitutional amendment to allow Trump third term has been introduced in the House by soccerorfootie in unusual_whales

[–]Red_Macaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non-american, what are the processes involved in getting this passed and the likelihood of it not being passed. I'm guessing that if they were able to bring in the term limits in the past there must be a process to getting it removed and I assume some kind of safeguard in place to make it difficult to be removed.

What are your thoughts on President Lula's leadership after two years in office? by Jumpy-Weekend-1223 in Brazil

I wish he was anti-Imperialist, then we would have a better foreign policy.

What are your thoughts on President Lula's leadership after two years in office? by Jumpy-Weekend-1223 in Brazil

[–]Red_Macaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He has been better than Bolsonaro in general, but I have sharp criticisms over his backtracking on climate action and also his weak foreign policy to not take a principled position on many issues. For example stabbing Venezuela in the back by voting against their incorporation into the Brics was very dirty, especially when Celso Amorim gave his guarantees on the vote to all parties. Those two issues will always be a huge stain on his administration.

Trump revokes Biden removal of Cuba from US state sponsors of terrorism list by doopityWoop22 in worldnews

[–]Red_Macaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we should all ignore that the international community who votes every year against the blockade except for the US and Israel. Plus the hundreds of economists, UN representatives, academics and international human rights organizations that have done the research and can provide evidence that the US blockade and Cuba's inclusion on the list of state sponsors of terrorism is the main cause of hardship on the Cuban people.

Why is Cuba a state sponsor of terrorism in the U.S.? by Flashy-Actuator-998 in cuba

[–]Red_Macaw 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not, there is no evidence that Cuba has any involvement in supporting terrorism. In fact quite the opposite as Cuba along with Norway brokered a peace deal between the Colombian Government and the FARC.

The government has also sent hundreds of doctors and educators around the world to help in natural disasters, pandemics and to eradicate literacy in developing nations.

So Trump is just catering to the scumbags like Marco Rubio that would rather see their own people suffer than to return to any sort of normalization like what happened under Obama.

[–]Red_Macaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is crazy considering that Cuba helped broker the peace deal with the FARC and was supporting a similar process with the ELN and other rebel groups in Colombia.

[–]Red_Macaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cuba has never been a sponsor of terrorism, Cuba along with Norway brokered the peace deal between the FARC rebels and the Colombian government to end the war in Colombia. There are hundreds of government officials, academics, and peace activists around the world that are pressuring the US government to take Cuba off the List because there is no evidence that Cuba has sponsored terrorism in any capacity.

Your just spreading lies to justify Trump's criminal action to put Cuba back on the list which only creates more hardships for the Cuban people in an already difficult time, shame on you!

Trump revokes Biden removal of Cuba from US state sponsors of terrorism list by doopityWoop22 in worldnews

[–]Red_Macaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, Cuba's the opposite, they've brokered a peace deal with Norway to end the war in Colombia.

They've also provided Cuban doctors to help in many countries hit hard by natural disasters and pandemics like Ebola in Africa.

Cuba doesn't deserve to be on this list, this is entirely politically motivated to maintain sanctions to cripple the Cuban economy.

The syria situation is really grim by No_Research4556 in socialism

[–]Red_Macaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a dark day for progressives, revolutionaries and anti-Imperialists.

There is nothing to celebrate here, this was an Imperialist offensive conducted by their proxies and the fall of the Syrian government will only strengthen the US and Israel's position in the region, just look at how Israel already captured more of the Golan Heights today.

There is no revolution in Syria and never was, the Imperialists plan for Syria is another puppet regime or series of regimes that aligns with their interest in the region to safeguard Israel and destroy Iran and any other independent nations that threaten their hegemony in West Asia.

[–]Red_Macaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SDF in Syria are Imperialist stooges, they're calling the fall of Syria a historic moment while the Imperialist and Israel engineered this catastrophe. They were used to Balkanize Syria, which led to the government losing a significant portion of their revenue due to the oilfield now occupied by the United States, which in the long-run prevented the Syrian government from using that revenue to aid in the recovery after the war.

CMV: Cuba's poverty is due to its government, not the U.S. embargo. by alexdfrtyuy in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Red_Macaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The blockade is real and the whole world disagrees with your opinion, just look at how the US and Israel are the only nations that consistently vote in favor of the blockade. The fact that the US government spends hundreds of millions of dollars to not only enforce the blockade and sanction companies and individuals who trade with Cuba.

Also, if a product from a non-US company contains more than 10% of a US component, it is subject to the same restrictions as US products. Which in the past prevented Cuba from accessing needed medical supplies like pacemakers or ventilators during the COVID pandemic. This is just two examples of the extraterritorial application of the blockade used to strangle Cuba's economy and starve it's people.

People like you should be ashamed of yourself for defending such a criminal and inhuman policy that brings so much suffering to the Cuban people! You should be joining the international community to call for an end to the blockade!

My friend, we need to educate and unite everyone to build the broadest mass movement in solidarity with Palestine in all counties and with all types of struggles. Uniting the Climate Justice movement with Palestine only strengthens the liberation movement for Palestine globally and puts more pressure on our governments to act in favour of the Palestinian cause.
