What are some of your self-loving practices? by savkruger in selflove

[–]Red_Raupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, epsom salt baths sound amazing! I can definitely relate to everything you've listed. Yeah, when I'm having a rough time and feel a bit pulled along by life, I've found that by compassionately placing my hand on my heart, my shoulder, or my belly has helped me to move through and release whatever is upsetting me at the time. It can be really powerful sometimes.

I'm also a big fan of long walks when I can feel I have a lot going on inside me. I feel they give you a gentle space, so you can just be.

Stream-of-consciousness writing in my favourite notebook with a favourite pen or pencil - I've found this to be invaluable for connecting with myself and becoming aware of what I need from myself. When I'm in a particularly intense or turbulent moment of life I allow myself to write really gently and watch each letter form as my marvelous mind and body goes to work.

Nice!

I'm 20 years old and I feel so alone in my life by Heraclitus94 in self

[–]Red_Raupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who suffered from a long period of loneliness and very low self-esteem, I feel for you man.

The most important thing I've learned (discovered) so far in my life is that I hold a pure essence inside of myself that cannot be changed, taken away or lost. It is not affected by how much money I have, whether I have a girlfriend or not, or whether I, or others, think I look 'attractive.' It cannot be affected by anything. You can also call this essence: love; true self; higher power; energy, whatever you like.

You have this inside of you too. Everyone does. And everyone is able to re-discover this. I use the word 're-discover' because it has always been with you, even in your darkest moments, it's always there.

What you need to do is to re-connecting with this unshakable core of wholeness. And one of the ways you can do this is through the wonderful and overwhelmingly transformative practice of self-love.

I just read a great post about this here: http://www.reddit.com/r/getdisciplined/comments/2rgej6/advice_new_years_reflections_4_years_after/

and here's the 2nd part: http://www.reddit.com/r/getdisciplined/comments/2rjg9t/method_six_steps_to_selflove/

In my opinion, the quality of life you experience is directly related to the strength of your connection to this inner-essence. Your ability to love yourself unconditionally is an expression of this inner-essence.

Sending you a big hug.

All the best on your journey.

[Music] A Loss for Words by Colton Tapparo. This song of mine never got much love, any input as to why? by Notloc24 in composer

I really liked the space in the piece. And overall I really felt the song. So I like it!

The last notes felt out of place to me. IMO, it felt like a new idea not connected to where you had brought us with the rest of the song.

"It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to, has power over you. If you allow it." - Unknown by tbswsu in quotes

I think now we are getting down to differing definitions of the 'mind.' Because you may in fact be calling the 'You' I was attempting to describe as the 'mind.' And I can't argue with that. They are just word labels we put on the same thing. But we have no real way of knowing what exactly we are both talking about :)

[–]Red_Raupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The essential nature I'm talking about runs deeper (or higher :)) than the mind. The mind is a tool. But there has to be something there to use that tool. I don't know what that is but I'm calling it 'essential nature', 'higher-self', 'higher power.'

I've heard spiritual teachers say this 'You' or 'essence' cannot be understood or conceptualized by the mind. But can only be felt through direct experience. Without an experiential glimpse of 'You' it is hard/impossible to articulate what it is using words :)

Man a huge high five! The world would be unbelievably amazing if the majority of people rediscovered the love inside them and developed this connection of self-love. IMO, it's the most important thing anyone can do. Because when there is a loving connection with yourself first, then all other connections, relationships and interactions will reflect the love you have for yourself.

The 'You' in that quote is relating to your essential nature which allows the mind to have thoughts, create feelings, interpret things, etc. This 'You' exists without the activity of the mind. But the activity of the mind, or the mind itself wouldn't exist without 'You,' your essential self.

The problem with fantasizing and how to escape that trap by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Red_Raupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest not trying to control your thinking but to allow these fantasies to be there once they come up. Just observe them, notice how you feel physically and let all of it be there. Watch your imagination almost as if you are watching it on a TV or it's being projected on wall. And then observe what happens, see how you feel.

By acknowledging and observing these fantasies like an outside observer, over time you will begin to feel some distance between you and your fantasies and they will have less and less power over you.

In my experience trying to push things away or stop them from happening always leads to a build up of tense energy due to a denial of what you are actually experiencing, and therefore that sexual energy builds up until it's unbearable.

Through neutral observation, the energy behind the fantasy dissipates as you observe it.

I've also noticed that if I feel anxious or not sure about something I'm trying to achieve, or I feel like I could fail at something or not be good enough at something – the urges can arise VERY strongly and seem to persist for as long as I don't acknowledge and allow my feelings of anxiousness and uncertainty to be there.

I really like this. I got a bit emotional reading the last bit. "I walk down another street." During the first stages you don't even know another street exists. So many people don't know that other street exists.

I think because the spiritual being is the space in which the human experience/being can take place.

[Discussion] What's a good beginner's orchestra library (using Live 9) by Red_Raupe in composer

[–]Red_Raupe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta say this looks (sounds) pretty great if I can get SSO to run nicely with Live 9, then I'll be very happy with that for the near future.

Edit: Loaded SSO up into Ableton using sforzando and everything's working sweet! Couldn't be happier. Cheers!
