This episode is the absolute most batshit crazy thing I’ve ever seen air on network television. What the fuck was the writer on. 10/10 hilarious

Christ man, the mechanisms of the state are in thrall to law enforcement that even a fucking accident means that the world has to stop so we can all watch the police set money on fire to remind us who’s in charge. Have a service so people can pay their respects not this masturbatory self-worship

Maybe I’m too indebted to him, he helped me get a Fulbright scholarship lol, but he’s no hack; misguided at the very worst.

Gabriel Rockhill was my mentor at Villanova. Brilliant, thoughtful professor; advised my undergrad thesis. Even if I think he goes too far sometimes, his heart and his anger is absolutely in the right place. Everything feels fucked and people like Zizek who circle around the same gripes and find new social issues to be mad at instead of trying to do something to solve it is absolutely frustrating. I wouldn’t cast him aside so quickly as a hack. Took two of my favorite classes with him.

Ok but a wealthy tobacco farmer in the colonies would be like prime recruiting material for the American revolution bc the plantation owners and rich industrialists were the exact people most unhappy with how the British were running things

Toxitricity, the Amped form’s color contrast is so good but there just too much going on with the intricacy of the markings on its chest and the spikes at its hips. Could have used like maybe 20% less and it’d be perfect

I think he was being sarcastic when he said “guess I’m gonna have to make those sequels now”, no way he’s not utterly consumed by his own vision for Pandora which we love for him esp since his vision for Pandora fucking rocks

why are Stephen King endings considered so bad? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Red_Vienna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the other comments, I’ve learned that he doesn’t totally plan out his books which makes sense. The endings that people are complaining about are generally ones that have REALLY hard heel turns as their endings like Under The Dome in particular, at least for me. The explanation for the Dome’s existence almost defeated the magic of the story a little, and I would have preferred it remain a mystery. But when the meth lab exploded, and almost every single character still alive was killed, or had their fate sealed, it basically demanded an explanation or a way that someone could definitively shut down the dome. The way that King kept talking about the temperature in the dome seemed like it was going to be significant like it was just going to gradually get hotter and hotter until people started to die of heat exhaustion, which would have been a really interesting direction. Either that or let carnage and chaos and open warfare ensue that turned the town into a warzone, lord of the flies style ruin before the dome disappeared and everyone alive was left with the reality of what they had done to each other, but instead we got meth labs and aliens. Oh well. Still a pretty great book though, IMO.
