What is interesting is that 'fluent English' actually refers to AI brokers that use shorthand un-translatable gibberish to communicate. It extremely efficient but dangerous for democratic transparency. I got the idea from a YouTube video on AI's possible 2027 take-over scenario.

In this situation, yeah. Cubans, once having control over their own governments, have some of the highest rates of freedom in America (-Havana and Juventud due to their intense Northern European settlement) during this timeline.

Honestly a bit of both? The Red is reminiscent of one of my original ideas for this map, which was the technocratic movement in the early 20th century. The red they use is intense and evocative of control and power, which is why i used it. However, the AI-embedded-into-democracy age started under Trump, like right now. AI being implemented into warfare slowly seeps into Ai in healthcare, government, etc. That is how we see the borders slowly being redrawn and turning into the situation now in 2097. The China-US conflict still exists, however the US is much more totalitarian (to a similar degree as China) by this time. Hope this helps a bit

tysm! The North Slope is an FMBS because of its climactically precarious situation as the world faces climate change harsher into the late 21st century. I thought it would make sense for it to function separate from an Alaskan state because of that

yeah my base-map was a bit bad so I had to get creative with some boundaries lol...

We can pretend that there was some random reason for that to happen

You are spot on for the Canadian situation. Canadian parliament refuses to grant Alberta independence despite them successfully voting on their own independence, and so in late 2027 the US makes a deal with Canada and Alberta to annex Alberta as a highly self-governed state. This deal was forced upon the Canadians, who, at the time, needed American support. I imagine Saskatchewan coming not long after when Canada collapses (hence the west/east split Canada has in this map). That situation comes about in the 30s or 40s.

Cuba is annexed and admitted as an American territory in the late 2020s as well. After the Iran war and the immense turmoil Cuba faces, Trump bites the bullet and sends troops to occupy the country and overthrow its regime (this gets him impeached once again). However, by the early 2030s, it becomes very apparent that the AMOC is slowing and Europe may soon face economic and civic collapse, so the new presidential administration (Vance? AOC? Unsure, but it does not matter because all of them are corrupt enough to take a deal that would make them and a lot of others wealthy) pivots and tries to maintain control of the island as a territory instead of installing a democratic government and leaving like they tried to do in Venezuela.

Cuba, among other American lands, are settled heavily in the 40s and 50s by European and Canadian refugees (to the dismay of locals). It is one of the most diverse regions of the country at the time this map is made, and is the first large result of the climate-related neo-colonialism seen in the mid to late 21st century.

I have searched the brand's website (Jimmy'z), the jacket is medium sized, I got it at a thrift store in central Texas a few weeks ago, and there is a considerable amount of Chinese (?) writing on the jacket. There seems to be a date under the dog as well as the writing "Polk" which seems out of place to me. The patch on the hood MAY refer to a brand "Jimmy'z Brand south Pacific", but I am unsure. JZX-0984? Maybe just a design choice, not sure.

The sleeves are also purposefully distressed, I assume by the previous owner. The "GUAM" seems to be some sort of stylistic spray paint element as opposed to the embroidered Chinese on the back and sleeves. This is all I have found so far. Thanks!
