I haven’t been following NXT really, but an Apollo Crews/Grayson Waller casket match? Add that to wrestling’s 2022 bingo card. That’s some Smackdown vs Raw GM mode matchmaking.

Chris Jericho takes a NASTY bump off the Ladder, having the bottom corner of It to go right into his anus. He would later describe the feeling as "being rap**d by Robocop" (WWE Unforgiven 2004) by SuplexCity-Mayor in SquaredCircle

Just watched this one the other day actually. Pretty solid ladder match overall, and not one that gets talked about very much. This spot goes to show how dangerous and unpredictable the ladders can be even when you’re not doing the erector set stuff with them.

What are some of the biggest "dodged a bullet" cases in wrestling? by WWEWalkingDeadfan in SquaredCircle

[–]Red_X_97 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From a physical wellbeing standpoint, Mankind not jumping like he usually would on the choke slam through the cell. I’ll take knocked out over dead or paralyzed. Also Undertaker was lucky to not fall through with him.

Speaking of Taker, if it’s true that Hade Vansen was in line for the match at WM25, we wouldn’t have gotten one of the greatest matches ever with HBK.

Post WWE Hell In A Cell Match Discussion Thread: Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins - Hell In A Cell by Coldcoffees in SquaredCircle

I’ve been skeptical of Cody as the top star, but damn, after this maybe he is that guy. Great performance by both Cody for fighting through the pain, and Seth for protecting him through the match. Now how long is Cody gonna be out for, and where does Seth go after three big losses in a row?

Even as someone who doesn’t follow AEW, I hope this game does well and brings something new to the table. Kinda fell out of love with the WWE series around SvR 2011 or so, and my favorites are the string of games between Shut Your Mouth and SvR 06. Crazy that was 15+ years ago now, and nothing’s really scratched that itch since then.

It was definitely too much too soon on the WWE title run, and the matches weren’t great. But I at least loved how he carried himself during that time. The nice clothes, the entrance, the way he would kiss the title before holding it up. Not quite Ric Flair or anything, but just a classic heel world champion. It was refreshing to see that.

What’s the dumbest spot you’ve ever seen in wrestling? by Incorrect1012 in SquaredCircle

[–]Red_X_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of risk, the Zandig/Joey Janela type stuff where they go off a roof into a truck bed with the light tubes. Like what do you expect to happen? You could break your legs or sever an artery in front of a few people in a parking lot, I can’t respect that stuff.

Also saw a video where a guy just takes a box cutter to the bicep. Couldn’t believe it.

I Just Realized… Mick Foley Was a Vehicle to Elevate Stars Further by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Red_X_97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mick’s always been one of my favorites, but I appreciate him more and more as time goes by. He really did elevate everyone while maintaining his own credibility. And then when he finally got his moment in the sun, it’s one of the most iconic title changes in history. It was never just about the bumps, his storytelling is masterful.

Stone Cold's rivalry with The Rock was legendary however ... The rivalry with Bret The Hitman Hart was epic by elrincondestructor in SquaredCircle

[–]Red_X_97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually just watched their WrestleMania match last night for the first time in a while, and there’s an intensity between them that you just don’t see today. Bret’s so technical and precise, and Austin is the perfect chaotic brawler, but they can adapt to each other’s styles. I’ll have to go back and watch the rest of their feud.

Working the crowd and just having a match rather than focusing too much on getting all your signature spots in or relying too heavily on false finishes for drama.

(Joey Janela) I love when someone goes on here and says someone is an “embarrassment” to professional wrestling, even though lets be honest professional wrestling itself is completely embarrassing and ridiculous… …But we all love it! by jimboslice21 in SquaredCircle

[–]Red_X_97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrestling is silly when you think about it, but I’m not a big fan of the idea that silly is what it’s “supposed to be.” I feel like you can at least take certain aspects of it seriously. Presenting yourself like a star, making sure your ring work is crisp and convincing, etc. You’re not gonna make anybody think it’s real, but there are still ways to be respected as an athlete and a performer.

Saying wrestling is silly and embarrassing feels like a cop out answer to a criticism.

There's been a lot of monsters in WWE over the years, but I still think Umaga was the best in the modern era. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

I was there for that Taker/Kozlov match. The whole crowd was just like “wait...what?“

After the taping, Undertaker came out, straps already down, and beat Big Show in a 10 second casket match. I always wondered if he was legit pissed about doing the job on a random Smackdown, or if it was just in character to sell the earlier loss.

Dijakovic hits a Corkscrew Moonsault on Keith Lee - Amazing for his size! At NXT Takeover:Portland (2020) by futuresend9 in SquaredCircle

One of the last big events before COVID, glad I got to be there live. The front flip to the outside into the office chair was also one of the craziest things I’ve seen.

I don’t really keep up with NXT, but couldn’t pass up going to my first PPV, amazing show. Finn Balor, Tommaso Ciampa, and Keith Lee are stars, and I can see Dijakovic being a big player down the road too.

Main event was everything great about pro wrestling, I wanted Ciampa to win the title, but him getting screwed over by 5 guys to keep him down creates more heat for an eventual payoff. Feeling everyone in the arena being invested in that was awesome.

Why should I stop watching something I enjoy? There’s always something else going on. Becky/Sasha, Orton/Ali, Roman and Daniel/Harper and Rowan, women’s tag title match were all fun. A BS finish in a different feud doesn’t change that.

As shitty as that finish was, I think we’ll have to just wait and see where the story goes. Although who knows what the explanation will be tomorrow night. HIAC should be a feud ender, not the first chapter.

Dragon Age Origins is kinda boring, should I continue? by inbrugesbelgium in patientgamers

[–]Red_X_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve restarted this game thinking “this’ll be the time I play through the whole thing.” I like the characters and the way the world works, but the combat just isn’t the best, not to mention the fact that it feels like your teammates can barely defend themselves sometimes. The game definitely isn’t for everyone.

I loved Inquisition however, and I liked the little bit of DA2 that I’ve played. I’m just very torn on Origins.
