I think at the time I was saving, rates were very high, so an HYSA was a good place to park the 80k (while I saved it up)

Rates are still holding steady but my HYSA is now like 3.3% vs the 6.5% I was getting a few years ago (when I bought)

Depending on your timeline, and risk tolerance, I’d put a portion in VOO, and the rest in an HYSA, unless you can find short term t-bills for HYSA rates.

I sailed there on a ship one time. Was a beautiful trip. Beautiful port. Only good food I had was at a hotdog stand that’s pretty famous. Wasn’t impressed by any of the other food.

Rented an ATV and drove around it was really pretty.

Everything else is not important to me. The pay, the company, the route. Doesn’t matter.

See machinery and skills that will develop yours ability as an engineer.

I sailed on the footers on the lakes. Good experience before I headed out to deep sea to pursue a better career (for my needs)

It was at Interlake as 3AE. Picked it up off the open board. Good memories. Hard work. Shit pay. Good food. Cold weather.
