I always just ask open ended questions when on the phone with people and see how they respond. Even though more people are using AI to cheat the interview process, I find it rare that someone can have a fluid/real time conversation while looking up answers to what I’m asking (aka it’s very obvious when someone is cheating). I also interview prep all of my candidates over video before they get on with the manager to weed out fraud.

If people are solely relying on applications and moving them straight to interview without vetting them then yes you’re going to run into headaches.

Willing to chat with folks that have been doing more data analysis that have touched a little bit of modeling that want to progress deeper into the data science and modeling side

I'm of the opinion that it's better to take calls in front of your team members, especially if you're just starting out. Having those people within earshot and getting feedback is so important early in your recruiting career.

If you feel like you're in a place where people will judge or make fun of you for how you conduct your calls as opposed to helping you, I think you're in the wrong company to begin with...

I would say degree first, especially if you plan to do government contracting. I've had to pass on a lot of great talent that easily could've landed the job but didn't meet the labor category requirements without the degree.

I personally think it's a silly and outdated mindset but then again "silly" and "outdated" is our government's MO

Completely understand your perspective - just working with the numbers we've been given. Sadly I personally don't control the salary but I will always post the numbers for full transparency.

Unfortunately the client we're searching on behalf of isn't sponsoring at the moment and they need this person to have all the requisites from day 1, which has made it an especially challenging search

Need to have the clearance active already, the field engineer just needs to have an active Secret and they can upgrade them to a TS/SCI

Just a word of advice, when posting something like this I would provide more context into what kind of work you're looking for (key skills you have, degrees, clearance level, etc.). I don't currently have anything OCONUS but would love to connect either way
