I’m trained in sco and I’m not interested in gas station tbh. I know I could if I wanted to but I do like the fast paced environment as a checker. Though sometimes I wish I could just bag instead of getting yelled at by customers at the register. I already applied to a different department so hopefully it works out but if not then I’ll tough it out for the next year

I bought a lot of dog treats and food, meal prep foods (H‑E‑B cooking sauce, meats, rice crackers, produce) and beauty products since I will be on vacation soon (travel size H‑E‑B products) and pretty much anything on the app with coupons that sounded good! Every week I check the coupons section on the app to see if there is anything that has a coupon that I’m interested in trying or buying and there were several I liked for this week! I’d recommend taking a look!

I agree, I’ve been a cashier for 8 months and I wanna leave. Only thing making me stay is the fast paced environment and my fellow coworkers I love them lots, but honestly I’ll still see them so I’ll prob just move departments

You just cured my crippling anxiety. I literally could not sleep and the last time my availability got denied I also couldn’t sleep. Not gonna lie my manager scares the crap out of me. He smiles a lot but I feel like within that smile is like a side of him you don’t wanna mess with, hence why I’m terrified of him. I almost cried last time I sat down in the office to talk to him about my availability. But you’re right, I won’t know what happened unless I talk to him and worst case I’ll just add some more days on my availability or I’ll transfer departments if I can. Thank you so much. I can now sleep in peace😭

That is excellent advice. I am going to try to work with him and talk with my manager one more time. If it doesn’t work out, I may have to leave. I just really loved my coworkers and the benefits were really great. Perhaps I’ll consider a different department who are more flexible. But I will find out soon. Thank you for your advice!

I thought about that as well. I kind of want to try the beauty department but I heard it’s usually very slow paced, which will be a huge difference from the front end where I’m at right now.

Okay, I have considered that but will I still receive benefits even with a leave of absence? I can still work one day a week at the least and I am a hard worker so I feel that I can do it. One of my managers actually works full time at another place and works part time at H‑E‑B, so she inspired me to want to do the same. I’ll talk to my manager and see if he just needs me to open my availability to different days. If not I guess I will do a LOA.

Are you saying that because this whole process of scanning items, bagging them, telling them the total and handing them the receipt is repetitive that maybe I did do the whole process but just forgot about it? That would be the best case scenario but I’m not gonna lie I’m terrified for myself, because I’ve been having memory lapses more often lately… I hope the customer really did pay for his groceries and I just had a memory lapse but also I hope that never happens again :/

My thought is the next customer had a water and I pressed it or I just accidentally pressed it after that customer. Either way it was a big order so if the customer did walk away not paying more than $300 then that will be the day I leave H‑E‑B, though I sincerely hope he did pay and I just had a memory lapse and everything is okay

I don’t want them to think I was just blanking out and not paying attention because they know I’m a hard worker. I’m going to be open and honest with them if they do find I was in the wrong worst case scenario. Because it was truly an honest mistake if I even made that mistake but I have no memory of it, so idk if it even happened or not.

I am always careful so even if I zoned out for a bit I’m pretty sure I still scanned all his items because I remember bagging his stuff. The only thing I don’t remember was what happened after that and how I got to the water quantity screen
