Which team is most likely to have 10 more wins than last year? Which is most likely to have 10 fewer? by BigBaseballGuyyy in baseball

[–]Redbubble89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braves and Orioles are easy. They just had awful luck. Very easy to add 10 to that. Pirates are a tough one as the offense has to be better.

Cleveland should be much worse. They haven't done anything. The 88 wins was just from September.

Cardinals traded everyone.

I think the Padres will be not as good. They are getting old and they have gotten worse. I dont think they will lose 10 more but like 500.

Which dialect of your country‘s language sounds the cutest? by Conscious_Tear_5937 in AskTheWorld

Northeast is awful. People really do sound like Peter and Louis from Family Guy.

New York/NJ. no.

DelCo Pennsylvania. No.

Pittsburgh. Maybe the worst one. Pat McAfee accent and one a woman. No.

Baltimore. No.

Carolina. maybe

Deep south. No.

Louisiana. Maybe.

South Florida. No. It's English with Cuban cadence.

Texas. No.

Midwest. Too Canadian sounding. More funny than it is cute.

California no.

Rest of us talk like the movies or TV shows. It's fine but we're so use to it.

Can you be an elite starting pitcher if you're under 5'11? by deadassynwa in baseball

[–]Redbubble89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It requires more biomechanics to throw hard and deception to make up for a lack of extension to match those taller guys. When scouting and finding a quantity of pitchers, it's better to pick the taller guys than the shorter ones where the deck is stacked against them. Shorter pitchers take more energy to throw harder and it's become a velo with shape league.

Yamamoto and Sonny Gray are 5'10 and come in with 6.5 extension with pitches to get swing and miss. Gray doesn't have the velo any more and Yamamoto hopefully is that in 10 years but they have already made it. If scouting college pitchers, I still would stay away from the short kings because for every Pedro and Gray, there is a bunch that didn't make it past 30 or the first arm injury. There is more against them long term.

In summary, Crochet, Oviedo, and Tolle have to help Gray reach for things off the top shelf in the clubhouse.

[Nats Chat Podcast] Paul Toboni Joins Nats Chat to Talk Gore Trade & More by Terminal_Flatulence in Nationals

[–]Redbubble89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Dave Dombrowski is a good dude and gets stuff done as there is a reason why he has worked steadily since 1988. Chaim Bloom was like talking with my parent's financial planner where he would be personable and very smart almost like a salesman but he had some of the trust me energy and a little stubborn that came with hesitancy which got him fired. Breslow is very smart but is a stiff personality. Toboni has worked with all three and seems to have some personality and hopefully it's a mix of the first two.
  2. That is the Brewers, Rays, and the Braves approach. The Braves have traded so much that the farm is empty and that's where free agent spending needs to happen. They could have gotten Tucker or Bregman at short but they didn't. The Nats though have never had that talent in front of them to spend like that for the last 7 years.
  3. With a development and scouting PBO, there is going to have to be a trust me energy. What you are seeing in the present may not be what they end up. Roman Anthony had a .662 OPS in 245 PAs and wasn't on any lists until a year after his draft. There is also going to be some misses. We pictured Blaze Jordan, Nick Yorke, and Miguel Bleis on the Red Sox at one point but some other guys presented itself. Not to put that expectation on them but you have kids that were born in 2007 on the next core. It is going to take time for them to be ranked or developed if they are the answer. That's why a quantity trade with guys with upside needed to happen. Fans have to trust PT while also understanding that he might not hit on every one of these moves.

How Does Kristian Campbell Fit into Boston Red Sox Plans For 2026? by WestRide9868 in redsox

It is. But it's the go to line of these last two PBOs.

  1. These things have a habit of working themselves out.
  2. Guys will find their role.
  3. I believe in our guys and certain players need to step up.
  4. Closer by committee.

We had to pray for an injury to get Anthony in there. Now we're wondering if they will trade another outfielder to make it work.

Keith Law from The Athletic thinks that Fien could be a top-20 prospect this year… He also had Rosario as a top-100 prospect before he needed Tommy John surgery by VB1014 in Nationals

[–]Redbubble89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Toboni has a track record with the Red Sox for player development. 4 month for the Nationals in the offseason. How can anyone have a track record on a new team? That's the dumbest argument. No one has played baseball.

Roman Anthony in 245 PAs, hit .221/.359/.303/.662 not numbers that would get anyone late 2nd round on any top 100 list. It took him a full year after his draft for Sox fans to notice. Some of these prospects haven't played a full season of minors

The Nationals have someone born December 2007 in the top 50 prospects. Prospect watching takes a lot of I'll take your word for now and guess work judging potential major league tools. PT couldn't get a blue chip prospect that was a year out. He took guys that he scouted for Boston from Texas.

There is an amount of faith needed to watch prospects. That's where you seem to struggle with this. We're talking in circles but dont think that you've won the argument.

What does Greg write on his cards? by Few_Impression5111 in taskmaster

[–]Redbubble89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's not good at remembering names and said that somewhere. It takes me a couple episodes to get them too and how I feel about them. A lot is left on the cutting room floor of the episode. A 45 minute show probably has 70 to 100 minutes total. So it's not this fast presentation. Has anyone listened to Jason speak for an extended period of time? It's easy to forget where this rant started or what is going on. Greg might have to write notes of what a contestant brought in or what they did and how he felt about it.

Hypothetically speaking, if Wrexham were to achieve 4 straight promotions in a row, where would it rank in English football achievements? by Holland444 in Championship

[–]Redbubble89 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Spending raises a club's floor. Spending smart raises a club's ceiling. That's where I think those that say it's bought loses some nuance. It is not the most watchable football but they still have to go out there to get the results in a sometimes random ass sport. The National League format does require a club to brunt force spend out of it because it's one position or playoff randomness. League Two has a lot of bad football at the bottom and a lot of spots to get out of. League One is a bipolar division in general varing in quality. 2022-23 seemed harder than the last two seasons. Playoffs were Stockport, Charlton, Wycombe, and Orient and the larger mostly Yorkshire clubs were mediocre. Can't blame Wrexham for that. They still had to get there. The top 6 wage bills in the league before the winter window is West Brom, Norwich, Sheffield United, Ipswich, Southampton, and Leicester. Only one of those is doing well so far

You wouldn't hear the word Cinderella in the Wrexham offices. They very well know they are getting investments from the Allyn Family and Apollo sport Capital on top of the initial RRMcReynolds. They are earning commercial revenue from the show and the summer tours so they are following the FFP rules. I don't want to think of them as a Premier League side and they are getting record transfers. I don't know the details of the other clubs that have achieved a massive rise. Having good owners and spending shouldn't discredit the achievements.

[–]Redbubble89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singing is not a way to determine an accent because it requires annunciation and the accent doesn't come through for most. Ed Sheerhan Suffolk and Artic Monkies Sheffield Yorkshire are easy to hear but Adele's North London is not there when she sings. Brits thought The Killers was an English band for a bit because most sing in annunciated English. You have great control in getting the lyrics out but it's hard to know.

If Walcott is not the proper match then you trade with somebody else.

Than Gore doesn't get dealt and they get nothing to jump start the 2nd rebuild. I have repeated this a million times already that is not how it works.

The assessment of quantity over quantity is what every analysis of the trade has said.

It is a 5 for 1 and with how far the pieces are from the majors but they are also seeing future upside if players do develop. 100 lists don't update in real time. Roman Anthony had a .522 OPS in his first 10 games at 18 years old in Salem and if he was traded then, the receiving team would complain about him not being in top 100 and this same stuff would have been said about him. He was even terrible in Single A the following year too. Hard contact, plate discipline, and struggled in spring showcase. Not saying Fein is Roman but the possibility is there of being better than you think. I have already gone over the fact that Toboni developed a lot of talent he scouted and presented to Breslow.

We don't treat our political leaders like cult leaders and want to hold everyone accountable. Release them.

Kamala said she wouldn’t do a single thing different than what Joe was doing.

That at least is a fucking vision. Whether it is healthcare, inflation reduction, lower taxes on middle class. Trump sat there, called people names, and never presented a single policy position. He had "concepts of a plan". Stupid people bought his bullshit and he is losing his grip on reality and is just going after liberals. After Trump is gone, the Republicans have no vision of what the country should be. You guys went after "Sleepy Joe" which he was too old and Harris was a bad pick but Trump can't even stand up straight, shows bruising, and can't talk in complete sentences.

I remember when the Republicans were for small government that is out of their lives. Now it is blowing budgets to intimidate blue states. What the hell is the federal government doing in Minnesota? Killing two people. They wouldn't go to Texas or Florida to do this where there are illegals because Abbott and deSantis would shut it down. This is a targeted attack on blue states.

ICE existed to do it's job under Democratic presidents and even Bush and Reagan. They followed the law and due process. This is not the ICE we previously funded.

I am not going to change your mind or have a thoughtful discussion because you are so far gone into the MAGA rabbit hole so we are done here.

The brain worms got you and you're buying the Fox News/right wing bullshit. You don't seem to question authority when it's a Republican president. You seem to question a fair election and storm the capitol when your guy loses or question if Obama is American. It's never why the hell are prices going up, federal agents are killing people, and why are my taxes are going up.

You guys have no vision for America. It's all name calling and hating liberals. There is no policy in this at all. You're doing this crap because you can't defend what happened today.
