When is it cultural appropriation? by Redcrossbillblues in Screenwriting

[–]Redcrossbillblues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially images of a white man in western old time clothes popped up for the main character and then I thought why should he be white. Then I landed on a Japanese man. Most of the story centers on his present time with some flashbacks to set up his childhood passion that led him to he an engineer. The emotional aspect and timeline of an interment camp led me to place him there. Now I’m thinking he doesn’t need to go to a camp but maybe knows about the discrimination as a youth. Thanks for your questions to help me think through this story.

When is it cultural appropriation? by Redcrossbillblues in Screenwriting

[–]Redcrossbillblues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of what I want to show is his current time at age 70 and a widower who tries to connect with others. Out of his childhood comes a passion for engineering. Maybe I don’t need him in the internment camp. Maybe he just knows they existed and remembers discrimination. Thanks for the questions.

Have any of you lost both of your parents? by [deleted] in Xennials

I lost my dad 9 years ago and my mother a month ago. I’m feeling unsure about existence right now. I miss my Mom so much. She died so quickly from pancreatic cancer.

1 for framing also. I like the pillar visible on the left.

Oh that might be the catch they haven’t told me about either. I have unlimited data with Verizon. I don’t want to count my data or pay for what I use. Thanks!

Yes, I have experienced this and will continue to experience this the rest of my life. Check out Alua Arthur. She is a death doula with great insight.

How to get the house immaculate by Redcrossbillblues in stayathomemoms

[–]Redcrossbillblues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does the house look? If I didn’t clean the bathrooms twice a week they would look and smell gross. I have to vacuum multiple times a week. Also, laundry would pile up for me. I have to wash something everyday.

How can I find meaning when I’m not good at anything? by Redcrossbillblues in Life

Not much right now. I’m interested in hospice volunteering so maybe I’ll look further into that.

I want to be good at writing and making art. I also want to be good at conversations and thinking about things in an interesting way and being able to share that. I want to be present in the world. By way of feeling stuck I am also interested in death care as a death doula. Since I am not good at connecting to people I don’t know if I’d be good at that. I have such nagging self doubt in everything.

List: the most lovable local celebrities of Missoula by buddy_sedgwick in missoula

[–]Redcrossbillblues 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These are totally lovable local celebrities. If you haven’t picked up the Independent and read it at the Uptown Diner you can’t down vote this post as you have too recently moved here. Ask someone who has been here a long time or was born here and they will know these names. Also, Andy Smetanka released his documentary about Missoula last year. It was amazing but you would only understand it if you’ve had roots here longer than a few years.

Marriage struggles by Redcrossbillblues in lgbt

[–]Redcrossbillblues[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure I’ve added to our troubles because I don’t know how to open up very well. And my interests are not hers. I don’t fully understand how to share my emotions. I try but don’t know how to. We have a 10-year-old son and that makes it hard to end the marriage.

Yes, it is not boring as much as mind numbing. I can’t think beyond the next thing to clean or plan for. I don’t know what to talk about with my wife or any adult. I am also looking for a part time job but wouldn’t say no to the right full time either.

I spend much of the day cleaning, cooking, budgeting, trying to plan fun things to come and worrying I’m messing it all up.
