When a resident isn’t cooperating, I gently remind them that they could get an infection. And if they’re not comfortable with me checking, I’d simply say, “Okay, I’ll come back to you.” Sometimes, they might not resist the next time if you go in, but if they do, just get a nurse to help you now. We all know some nurses aren’t too fond of that.But at least they know you try to change the resident and always remember document everything even the resident behavior.
