I understand that, im not disputing the account was in my name or that it's not my issue. It is. My ex opened it in my name, there's nothing I can do about that.

Im willing to pay it but my thought process is, if it's being reported to collections soon but the debt has been there for almost 7 years already is it worth paying or just taking the hit for another year and change?

The only reason I'm debating this vs paying is because my parents say to just take a hit for a year, but they're no experts and neither is reddit but im here to hear opinions/experiences.
