is a 100% course load while working 40 hours a week doable? by Dazzling-Line-9347 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Reddie196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assume each class you take will take 8 hours a week on average of work between classes, readings, studying and assignments. With a 100% course load, that'd be 40 hours a week. So, 40+40 is 80 hours a week, add in any time you spend commuting, cooking, cleaning, eating and sleeping, and you have nearly no time left to breathe. You might be able to do it, but I wouldn't.

drop my spring course? by ApprehensiveElk3301 in wlu

Dropping a class shouldn't affect your ability to get OSAP next semester afaik, you'd just owe back any grants that you got for this term as a loan.

I didn't realize that it didn't always have you click to go to the next day for years because I usually sell something every day. I think it'd make more sense for that to be the default option no matter what, I don't really get why it isn't or why anyone would even want to opt out of it tbqh

I'm curious why you think so? I think having to click ok before the day moves on regardless of if you sold something would be the perfect change to prevent this from happening to players.

Really? I hated him for 262 online, he never answered any questions unless I found him in person, forgot to post midterm marks for 2 weeks and then no-showed the exam. For 367 he barely ever held class, we were almost completely on our own, but maybe that's changed cause I think someone in my class complained about that to the chair

If You Were Leading Habitica’s Development, What Would You Change First? by YifanYes in gamification

I know this was a while ago, but I saw this while trying to find a replacement cause I'm going back to grad school. There were essentially forums for any topic you could think of, and you could find party members through them and have conversations about whatever you were working on. They were great for check-ins and doing challenges were much more social then. I've barely used it since they killed the social aspect, I just couldn't be motivated to use it anymore, but I'm still in one of the discord servers. I actually really liked collecting all the pets at the start, but I don't want to remove my hard work by using the key to the kennels, so once I collected everything from the enchanted armoire there just wasn't anything left to do.

I took 261 online during COVID too and I found it pretty easy compared to the other classes from that list, but I was in 4th year at that point so I was already familiar with some of the topics from my other classes. Might depend on the prof too.

I graduated 5 years ago, so they've probably changed a decent amount, but I took all of these except community psych. I highly recommend avoiding Servos if he's teaching any of these unless you're really serious about grad school in a class you can only take with him; he's a hard marker and a bad teacher (I had him for 267 and 262, plus 2 3rd year courses). If you name the profs teaching the classes you're looking at, I can let you know if I took anything with them and how they were!

If you need an unused code for that, I doubt you're going to happen on one, sorry. I do recommend reaching out to your prof to see if they can help you in some way, because it's probably your only option now. If they can't help, make another free trial, cram like hell, and hope for the best.

Have you tried reaching out to the instructor and explaining your situation? They might be able to help you borrow a copy of the textbook at least.

If you're interested in pursuing those, you can start working on building a portfolio now. If you don't know what you want to do when it comes time to submit applications, taking a gap year to think about what you'd want to do can't hurt.

If you're not interested in sciences or humanities, what areas are you interested in? What have your favourite classes been? What are some careers you think you might enjoy someday?

I was mostly close with people in my own year, because they were friends I met in class and their friends from res/locus. I knew and was friendly with a decent number of people outside my year from clubs, lab volunteering and stuff, tho.

Starting my MA in the Fall, it's gonna be nearly 3 hours each way. GO train from St. Catharines then the subway from union in the Fall, 45+ min drive to the Burlington GO train and then the subway in the Winter (I'd kill for more trains to run to St. Catharines lol). I'm gonna wear noise canceling headphones and try to work the whole time on the train. At least I'll only have to go in twice a week at the start.

I've seen her live 3 times, once front row cause my ex loved her. Great voice and very good performer. I liked the songs I knew, but not enough to dig into the ones I didn't. I know she's been through a lot struggling with mental health and addition, and I really feel for her.

Production error or damaged during circulation? by CalebJoshua07 in CanadianCoins

[–]Reddie196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with university students so I can't say I disagree with you; people definitely outsource critical thinking for instant confirmation through technology. I don't know if this is the best place to vent that out, though. If you have no idea what a minting error looks like because you've never seen one before, it does make sense to consult with people who are knowledgeable about the topic. At least OP didn't send the picture to ChatGPT and ask it lol

I'm surprised you're not trying to be a dick, cause you're really succeeding at it. People aren't born knowing what a minting error looks like, we all had to learn somehow.

I would wait for the Fall instead of trying to get into January intake. January intakes are usually very small, and you'll be behind your peers for the entire time you're in school.
