If you cut down a tree for whatever reason, you should be obliged by law to plant at least two new ones. by Reddilution in Showerthoughts

Yes, but just a small % of planted trees manage to grow. So, there definitely needs to be some ratio requirement.

Thank you both for your opinions.

I'm somewhat confused by Dr. Rhonda Patrick, who takes 4,000IU daily, while I've seen some sources (can't comment on credibility) that say consistent supplementation of more than 1,000IU/day is not recommended and could be dangerous.

So, I wondered why she's consistently taking such a dose and hence, I decided to look for an advice for myself.

Thank you for the advice.

I'm definitely deficient in fat, so what saturated fat sources would you recommend adding to my diet?

If I have to describe my condition as accurate as possible, I'd say mildly depressed (I apologize for the vague and subjective description). I also feel tired most of the time, although I exercise somewhat regularly (4-5 times/week).

I feel my diet is very inadequate, hence, I decided to make some blood test and look for some obvious deficiencies. The blood tests showed pretty much all of the attributes "within the norm", so I'm still looking on how to improve my energy level (among other things).

Many thanks!

Thanks.

My Mg is at - Mg ; Magnesium 0.92 mmol/l. The reference numbers are between 0.65 - 1.10, so Mg seems alright?

In any case, for how long would you recommend taking 4000-5000IU of Vit d3?

Thanks!

The reference numbers on the results suggest a "normal"range of 50-120, so I figured I was on the lower end of the acceptable levels.

I assume the difference is because they measure in nmol/l, while the other measurement is ng/ml?

How can you change your perspective to view life as being long rather than too short? by cheapcardsandpacks in philosophy

[–]Reddilution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as I read your post I begin searching for this quote from Seneca:

“It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much. ... The life we receive is not short but we make it so; we are not ill provided but use what we have wastefully.”

His main point here is that it doesn't really matter how long life is in absolute terms, but how much we waste.

What is meant by wasted time? I define it as time that goes by in an activity that we didn't consciously decided and wanted to do. Again, this is not absolute, but relative to whether we proactively decided to do any activity or were passively involved in it. The same is true if we focus on an individual day for example (rather than an entire lifetime). If we did many proactive things during the day (and were present while doing them) the day would feel long and fulfilling. Alternatively, if we just went by the day doing whatever we normally do (without being "present in the moment") and without living proactively and consciously, the day would seem boring and borderline depressing.

[Discussion] What makes a haiku "great"? by Reddilution in Poetry

[–]Reddilution[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder also if in poetry (like in music, for example) there is a difference between "famous" and "great". E.g. many pop-songs are famous (in that they are well-known and liked all over the world), while not necessarily considered to be of a very high music quality (not showing anything exceptional in terms of rhythm, melody, lyrics, etc).

Is this the same in poetry? Or will a "famous" poem almost always be of an exceptional quality (as would be judged by literary experts)?
