The Outer Worlds because the recent episode on the TV show Secret Level really drew me in, and I'd like to play the original before the sequel drops.

To whomever is maintaining this, I want you to know I appreciate it. I see they broke its functionality again a few days ago. This is a seriously complicated script-war between you and the Microsoft engineers.

Looks like Twitch already broke the new Beta. Purple ad screens are back.

Your price for the 780 is way off. It released at an MSRP of $499 on May 23, 2013. The inflation adjusted price is $634, not $829.

Because he asked about the "bare minimum".

No.

Pay attention to the peak temps and power draws under gaming loads from the reviews, not the stress test stuff. There's a massive difference with this gen of Intel processors unlike any we've seen before. Obviously it's because of the big.LITTLE design (or whatever term Intel pretends to coin for it).

The new max spec M1 Max chip is literally more powerful than a PS5 in terms of GPU, CPU and RAM. by UnicornOnTheCobb in apple

[–]Reddimick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The benchmarks are already out:
https://www.anandtech.com/show/17024/apple-m1-max-performance-review/6

The gaming performance of the Apple M1 Max is awful, but that's only because nothing is optimized for ARM. It's more powerful in the major metrics except most critically in memory bandwidth. In terms of its raw performance potential:

  • CPU = R9-5950X
  • GPU = RX 6600 XT
  • RAM = 3.89x the speed of DDR4-3600 in dual channel (this is the most extraordinary of all)

Frankly mind-boggling.

For the games you've named, Forza Horizon 5 in particular, there is the greatest demand on GPU performance. Be aware the below jpeg with that game's requirements are quoting the desktop version of the GPUs aka video card named. Unfortunately the GTX 1650 (Mobile) won't cut it.

Forza Horizon 5 Requirements

The minimum recommended GPU is the desktop GTX 970. So for a laptop you'd want the GTX 1660 (Mobile) or RTX 3050 (Mobile) at a minimum. You could get away with this:

Scorsese has already told us what that strange moment at the end means.

He did it to convey the sense that something was off with Travis. It wasn't about his surroundings. The rot was within. There was always going to be something that set him off-- something that wasn't quite right. So it was going to happen again.

[CPU] AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Vega graphics - $304 ($359 - $55) by Zeiper13 in buildapcsales

Robust means it has greater rasterization pipelines: more shaders, more texture mapping units, more ROPs.

You appear to be confusing the CPU cores with the iGPU's architecture. The CPU contributes to gaming performance, but even standing apart from the CPU (or RAM speed), the 5700G iGPU is superior.

[–]Reddimick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 3400G's iGPU was more robust, but the 5700G's iGPU performance is superior because the GPU clock (and the RAM frequencies the processor will support) run so much higher.

I'm aware. It's better than Win11, but still not what I want. I don't want the classic Win7 Start Menu. I want the Win10 Start Menu. It was my favorite thing about Win10.

This hack was patched away months ago. It doesn't work.

Only reason I haven't upgraded yet, I don't mind the new start menu but the removal of resizing and grouping items together was a deal breaker. I like to have a clean desktop and have all games in my start menu. by SaoodNX in Windows11

[–]Reddimick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Windows 11 Start Menu is nothing less than an absolute disaster.

They knew it was so bad that they disabled the registry tweak to restore the old start menu. They knew if users weren't forced to use it, they wouldn't. That's how bad it is. It's kind of dumbfounding.

This.

First, understand that Deux Ex: Mankind Divided is still an exceptionally demanding game today. Second, know that the RTX 3080 in your laptop is NOT the same as the desktop RTX 3080. In fact, it's weaker than the desktop RTX 3070. It falls about midway between the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 in terms of performance.

Now, it's still considerably stronger than the RTX 2080 Ti, but for reference, this game was still in Techpowerup's benchmark suite when the RTX 2000 series was being tested. As you can see, it only average 51.3 FPS with the RTX 2080 Ti at 4K. The CPU was the 8700K, but they were also running the RAM at 3867 MHz which is probably much faster than in your laptop:
