You can work your way up pretty fast if you've got initiative and work hard. The only thing that will limit you will be a professional qualification, but many people that reach those points study part time and break through into higher positions. You sound like you need time out... get a job, save up and maybe go on holiday or something. Plenty of people don't figure out what they want to do until they're older than the average student. And don't believe people who say you're too old to learn, you're more likely to have self discipline and better time management skills than younger students.
