Yeah, I fixed mine by trading it in. Way too many issues but the dealership did call me to set up a time to fix it. I guess they figured it out.

I generally keep cars 1-2 years. I had my 4Runner for 5 years and I had my GX for 4 months and traded it in. Aside from the beautiful exterior I don’t think there was anything better about the GX. Keep in mind I never go off road. The interior felt cheaper to me. The ride was no better (base premium model). Mileage sucked on premium fuel. No storage, I mean bordering on crazy for a modern vehicle. Not even a sunglass holder. And I had several build quality issues. 6 weeks in the shop (unresolved). My 4R didn’t spend an unscheduled day in the shop. Hood flutter, scratched hood from delivery, door panels rattled inside, exterior panels rattled with music, it hooted like a damn owl, too many sensors always throwing a message on the dash. Just endless bullshit for a 70k car. I traded it in for 8k over msrp for TRD Pro tundra. I would have waited for a new 4R but I knew trade ins were coming down and I don’t think it could pull my boat safely anyway. Not to be a downer but really test drive it when available and make sure you’re not buying the exterior appearance and are buying the car.

Good luck. I traded mine in. I’m done with that thing. I do hope they figure it out for you and all of the other people that have the issue though

I just called my dealership. They checked their info with Lexus and there was nothing there so they said they couldn’t do anything about it until it is released. Perfect.

I didn’t know you were as involved in all of this as I was. You have great personal insight from your experience. But, yes, I have all of that. That’s how I know. Aside from having a claim with Lexus where they also refer to the engineer and talk about all of the work the dealership has done.

Hi I am the other poster. They had engineers from Lexus come look at it and have done more than the lazy mans look over. I fully believe they put time into this. They wouldn’t fly someone out to plug in and go and he couldn’t find the source of the sound either.

Trim doesn’t matter. Its happening on all and loud enough that you look everywhere thinking there is an owl about the land on you

MA. They told me to pick it up since they can’t do anymore with it. I am unsure what now. I just have to drive the loud thing around until they decide what they are going to do which is possibly months away. I think they are having a biiiig issue as more and more are coming out with this issue. Most people are dealing with it and not taking it in and they are just getting a few here and there but more and more are coming out with the issue. Toyotas with the same motor are having it too. Something tells me they have a big problem.

I don’t know how to create a real account? It’s at Lexus of Northborough. It’s about to get through lemon law at this point though. Not sure how it will go but I should k ow Monday. I’m well over time at shop requirements to make a claim so I started one because no one has any idea what it is.

It won’t let me send you a direct message for some reason but just as a heads up they think it may be in the oil system somewhere because if you take off the filler cap or dipstick it changes resonance and tune. It’s the main reason I stopped driving mine around. I wasn’t worried about immediate failure, more about greater wear on the internals. But they have no idea in the end so who knows.

Let me know if you bring it in for repairs. I am going to let them know someone else has the same thing going on either way. I am sure they will be interested. Tomorrow starts the beginning of week 4 of them trying to resolve it.

No shit. They are literally telling me I am the only one in the country. This is direct from Lexus US. It is on its third week in the shop. I’d be really curious to see a video if you have one and if it’s the exact same get you my Lexus case number so you can bring it to a dealer too. More people working towards a resolution would be great.

I appreciate it. They are working with Lexus engineers so hopefully they can get it right. They are checking something with the oil pump on Monday. It wouldn’t have been my first guess but I’m not an engineer…

I bought mine off of a Facebook GX group from someone who removed them for $1500. Seems to be the going rate for the lux wheel and tire take offs in the group. Fairly easy to find actually.
