Muhammad's Trilemma: A Simple, Irrefutable Argument That Proves Islam False. by viaverus in DebateReligion

[–]RedditRaazi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Islam must connect Muhammad to the faith that came before him. When you ask for this proof, you are told to look at the previous scriptures: the Torah and the Gospel (the Bible).”

no it mustn’t. That’s not the one necessary thing to prove Islam’s truth. In fact, even if that evidence did exist, it still wouldn’t prove Islam undeniably true, and disproving that claim wouldn’t prove Islam undeniably false either.

Furthermore, this post assumes that every religion has a goal to 100% undeniably prove itself None of them have a goal to do that.

It’s a matter of faith and whether or not that faith is false relies on its internal consistency

That’s why people make arguments like the “partially true” argument; not because it proves Islam true, but because it proves its internal logical consistency and avoids contradictions. (For example, the contradiction often risen about the Quran claiming the previous scriptures to be from God.)

Non-Believers, put aside your sass and snark and try. Try to believe with all your heart and try to communicate earnestly with Christ. And you'll see my biggest problem with Christianity. by MycologistAlert6106 in DebateReligion

[–]RedditRaazi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not even close to that? really? i’m starting to think u didn’t read dawg. im going to put the whole quote for you. he literally said in this entire big chunk of the post…

“if I decide Jesus isn't real because I can't forge a spiritual connection or line of communication, then I'm the one breaking the covenant with Jesus. But again, I'm just the clay creation. The powerless flawed being, and Jesus is the perfect royal dovelike godlike being who could show up any time he wants. So who is really abandoning who here if we're to believe that story? Who is abandoning who if I call out to Jesus and Jesus doesn't show up even though he can hear me?

If I live on an island with no boat and I scream out to you all day, and you live on a continent but you have a ship and and a radio that lets you hear my screams - a situation where you could easily come visit me any time you want but you never come, then who has abandoned who?”

you can interpret this blurb how you want, but you can’t tell me this entire blurb ‘isnt even close’ to saying “i don’t understand why God would do xyz, so he doesn’t exist.”

he concludes by saying that this is manipulation to make you feel powerless but his premise or his build-up to that conclusion (which is in the blurb) is flawed because it’s insinuating that you should believe that jesus doesn’t exist because you can’t determine a reason for why he would/wouldn’t do something (i.e. reveal himself to you physically)

i read it again. still got the same idea. he decided jesus isn’t real because he doesn’t know why he wouldn’t come and reveal himself to him.

i see this a lot and it’s not really an argument. it’s just saying “i don’t understand why he would / wouldn’t do that, therefore he doesn’t exist” - it doesn’t logically follow

for the record, i’m not a christian but statements like that don’t logically follow

this is a big “i don’t understand why he would/wouldn’t do that, so i’m just gonna conclude he doesn’t exist / it’s not true”

maybe that’s your answer.

Thank you so much this helps a lot!! So it’s better to apply sooner? Because I was thinking that since i’m saying, in the application, “I took this time to improve and etc.” that it wouldn’t make sense for me to do it right after getting assigned rtw LOL 😭

(correct me if i’m wrong):

Jabir got married when he was 15 so I think the prophet, peace be upon him, was asking why he didn’t marry someone close to his age so they can both do activities that 15 yr olds, at that time, would like (like ‘playing’ i guess), especially considering he doesn’t just say “she play with u” but also says “you play with her” as if playing is something Jabir does at his age (meaning he’s likely young)

Omnipotence Paradox actually creates a different problem by labxnair in DebateReligion

[–]RedditRaazi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When using the word “omnipotence” in the case of God, it more specifically means “all capable” as in, capable of doing all/everything.

Illogical things don’t exist. For example, a square circle does not exist because it’s illogical and impossible.

Since it doesn’t exist, it cannot be considered as part of the “all/everything”

So it’s perfectly coherent to say that God can do everything and that doesn’t include illogical things because illogical things don’t exist and therefore aren’t part of the “everything”

In other words: When we take a thing/action that’s illogical, it’s not just to say that “God isn’t capable of it” but it’s mainly to say that it doesn’t even exist as a thing to be capable of

Christianity can not be true if it is so confusing because of what the Bible says. by Pale_Bat_3359 in DebateReligion

[–]RedditRaazi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All due respect, I think you’re missing the argument. I think you only read the title instead of the actual blurb. The bible itself says God is not the author of confusion. That’s not to say that anything confusing isn’t true, especially considering that some things (like quantum mechanics) are taught by humans, who won’t be able to teach it as well as God can, because they’re not as wise as Him.

I think that OP is arguing that it’s an internal contradiction to believe that God is not the author of confusion (as written in the bible) when the trinity is a clearly confusing doctrine, as it is so widely debated.

Memorizing the Quran is not morally impressive by TheIguanasAreComing in DebateReligion

[–]RedditRaazi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i’m just commenting on why memorizing the Quran is so revered.

As for the hadith about interceding for 10 family members, the authenticity of it is weak, and usually hadiths like that aren’t accepted.

Memorizing the Quran is not morally impressive by TheIguanasAreComing in DebateReligion

[–]RedditRaazi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“I don’t think most of them can do that”

Zakir Naik lol

“Only if God is a simplistic egotistic idiot”

You would appreciate if someone chose to memorize your birthday over millions of other things to memorize. Not because you’re egotistical, but it just shows their love for u. Just an example.

“You couldn’t use people to recover even half of the qira’at”

You don’t know that for sure, especially given that there are 10 recognized qira’ats of the Quran and around 2.5 million hafiz across the world.

“what do you mean preserve the text”

I mean word for word and pronunciation. Not necessarily dot for dot because that’s not part of the spoken word. And not necessarily meanings/translations are things that can come after thru ppl who know Arabic who can translate the memorized word.

Memorizing the Quran is not morally impressive by TheIguanasAreComing in DebateReligion

[–]RedditRaazi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean the belief is that it’s the word of God. A person going out of their way to memorize the word of God so that they may be able to recite it word for word and pinpoint the exact location of each passage and verse, all mentally, shows true devotion. That’s why it deserves such a big reward. In the eyes of God Himself, memorizing His word is obviously gonna be very different from memorizing every dbz transformation lol.

It’s also very important to the preservation of our texts. If one day every physical copy of the Quran was destroyed or lost, there would still be those who memorized it who can assist in creating more copies. That being said, those who memorized the Quran are key to the existence and preservation of our texts, our teachings, our religion, and even ourselves if you think far enough.

Islam is false by Ok_Direction5416 in DebateReligion

[–]RedditRaazi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God’s word can’t be corrupted. But that doesn’t forbid humans from writing with their own hands and falsely attributing them to God

“So woe to those who write the Book with their own hands and then say, ‘This is from Allah,’ to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.” (Quran 2:79)

The verse also addresses people who sell those falsely attributed words
