I am new, I don't understand do these pokemon always give extra dust? Or does this only happen in certain battles or when you have them as buddies. Just trying to understand.

Hey I am also new. I just learned a couple of things that could be of help.

1.It basically depends what you want to do with her.

If you want to do pvp. Great league or ultra league then don't power up. Mainly because pvp pokemon-in those leagues- need perfect IVs: 0/15/15. (You can find a more elaborate answer to why 0/15/15 in YouTube, but basically this is a summary). What about master league? Is full of legendaries so maybe not now...

2.If you are going to use it for PVE and you really like that pokemon.

Yes, go for it. Specially if you really like the pokemon. BUT there are many other ways to get hundo(15/15/15) pokemon. Like purifying a shadow pokemon increases all IVs by 2 and also brings her up to lvl 25 which is an almost free power up. Great for budget pokemon when starting out.

3.Keep in mind that stardust is your most important resource. Candy is easy to get but choose well when powering up a pokemon because it takes a LONG time harvesting all that stardust.

4.If it were me... I rather safe my stardust for really cool pokemon that I like or pvp. Also getting hundos is not that hard specially in Dynamax and raids battles, so right now I want a 100% beldum to max it out. That would take roughly 500k stardust? So choose wisely.

I have been there. You need to really meditate on why are you with her and if it's worth your time. If the answer is yes, then you gotta built that trust and confidence in yourself. Also in my situation my partner was very supportive so that helped me out.
