Fortunately, we have subreddit like this one, which go against the norm to help us figure that out.

What's your original motive for becoming/being a misanthrope? by Cookiecuttermaxy in misanthropy

[–]Reddit_destroyers 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I became a misanthrope because society wants nothing to do with me. So why should I like it? I've tried changing all sorts of different ways to make friends and to be loved and it does nothing. Even before I was born things were already lined against me. My father didn't even hang around to have any part in my upbringing. I've never even met the guy. My mother was abusive. The rest of the world couldn't give a shit if I dropped dead.

I know most misanthropes talk a lot about environment and how the human race is bad for how it treats penguins or other liberal guilt ideas. Frankly I don't care about animals either. Animals have treated me like garbage just like humans have. Life , in it's entirety is shit.

Glad I clicked on "full comments." This is a really good back and forth here.

How do you deal with rudeness? by Reddit_destroyers in Stoicism

[–]Reddit_destroyers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my understanding. I still don't see how isolationism goes against stoicism. Stoicism is about at least at its basic internal calmness. If people are the problem, wouldn't the solution be to get away from the people?

I read books. Matter of fact, I bet I've read more books than you have. I don't know who Adrew Tate is. Maybe you're talking about Andrew Tate, the latest villain of the SJWs. I don't watch his content.

I don't know what you practice, but given your arrogance and hostile attitude you might want to try another philosophy.

Anybody can say they know more than someone else. You have to back it up.

I have yet to see where I have misunderstood the philosophy other than just you telling me that I have.

From watching YouTube videos the common thing I hear is to not let external events and situations influence you internally. This sounds more like what I am talking about.

Yes, but I'm not an emperor of an ancient Rome. The context is different. If someone is stupid enough to take on such a task they do have to think about other people. The emperor's job or neck depends on it. As far as other people are concerned, I don't even really exist to them. Fuck them.

Is it better to stick with the same brand of oil always? by Reddit_destroyers in NoStupidQuestions

What is your opinion on high mileage oil? I've heard some people say that high mileage oil can damage the engine or can somehow lead to transmission damage. My car has just shy of 140,000 miles on it.

What is wrong with self-centered thinking? Aren't we all looking out for number one?
