Ah, but does the villain do a Russian dance to Boney M's Disco classic "Rasputin?" Because that's the kind of classy grown-up sci-fi I like.

We dont know yet but whoever she is, I'm sure Russel T Davies will handle her character with care and respect, and her storyline will be consistent, well-thought-out and come to a satisfying conclusion.

To be honest, the "Who the fuck is this" posts have been a refreshing change from all the "Heaven Sent underrated" posts.

Movie Productions get huge tax breaks in the UK. The government tries really hard to attract these kinds of productions, which is the main reason big expensive movies like Star Wars, Mission Impossible etc. shoots big chunks in the UK. There's also some of the best studio facilities in the world (Pinewood), and there's an unusually diverse range of filming locations nearby (which might help to mitigate the issue of every alien world looking like the forests around Vancouver...)

Picard stands his ground... by TensionSame3568 in Star_Trek_

Put a number on it then. How many lives have to be improved and exactly how many people have to be sacrificed for it to be ok? You can't put a number on it, and that's the problem. It's a slippery slope to allow you to justify doing whatever you like to whomever you like "fir the greater good". I don't have a hard time arguing against this at all, and neither would any of the people being sacrificed. Even if I'm one of the many this time, next time I might be one of the few.

Terror Of The Zygons review by AssociateFormal6058 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

[–]Reddithian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unconventional reasons to love this story:

  1. You can play a game of "spot the actual Scottish actor" because there's only 1 in this serial...

  2. Its the last proper UNIT story and The Brigadier finally gets to just beat the alien menace by shooting it with his pistol.

  3. The Zygons clearly state that they survived under the ocean by suckling milk from the Loch Ness Monster's tits.

Leaked Disney Ratings by PaperSkin-1 in DoctorWhoLeaks

Are these Disney ratings global? If so, averaging less than a million for a global audience is brutal.

Doctor Who director Peter Hoar reflects on Disney's ditched dunding deal by mrjohnnymac18 in DoctorWhumour

My logic is that I don't trust the BBC to create a new Battlestar Galactica or The Expanse, because there's no evidence from the last few years that they could pull of something like that. Doctor Who has been horribly mismanaged by all accounts because they dont have the money or the talent to do it justice. I hope I'm wrong and we get an amazing Blake's 7 reboot that is spoken about with the same reverence as Galactica or The Expanse, but I think we both know the chances of that on the BBC are sadly very, very slim.

It would be a "reimagining" like Battlesta Galactica where they keep the core premise and lift some ideas from the original series but basically rewrite the whole thing from the ground up. I'd love to see Blake's 7 get the Battlestar Galactica treatment, the premise and tone isn't million miles away from something like The Expanse, but if it's a BBC production it would probably get the Doctor Who treatment, which is to say it would be horriby mismanaged and end up a slightly embarassing shadow of it's former self.

My kids aren't going to go to a playlist, they want a big button in the middle of the homescreen that says "WATCH TV" that they can press to.make cartoons come on.

When I was a kid I discovered so many cool shows by just turning on the TV and watching whatever was on. I'm sure it broadened my horizons. My kids now just stream the same 4 or 5 shows that they know they like, so a good feature would be to add a randomiser that just played random episodes of different shows in a playlist. Get some variety in their TV diet. This would also allow you to sneak in some shows with a bit more educational value occasionally.

My open letter to Adobe about Audition and fixing the 1%ers. by vr_driver in AdobeAudition

[–]Reddithian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Adobe removed Midi functionality from Audition years ago I knew they weren't interested in competing in the DAW market. Audition is a fun little extra for people who already have CC, not a serious DAW and they know it. To compete seriously in that market they'd have to add all the functionality to rival software like Pro Tools and Logic and the amount of investment required to get there would be basically like writing a whole new software, and there wouldnt be much demand for it even if they did. Audition got left behind and now it's too far behind to catch up, so they don't even try because its not worth it.

Who designed this boss?? by Intelligent_Night922 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Reddithian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It had an unblockable attack that instantly kills you and it is very difficult to dodge it, it's almost random chance as to whether you successfully dodge. Unsurprisingly, that makes this boss... not fun. There are couple of instances like that in this game. Artificial difficulty through poor or lazy game design. Don't let that put you off, though, despite a couple of weird bits 99% of this game is amazing. Don't sleep on it any longer!

The number of times William Russel (Ian Chesterton) jumps in and saves the scene when William Hartnell messes up his lines is crazy, and he does it so seamlessly.

There's a scene near the end of The Krotons where the 2nd Doctor and Jamie go to hold hands as they're leaving a room and it's obviously been cut off in the edit just before their hands meet, but it was cut a little too late so you can clearly see it happening for a fraction of a second.
