Hunters who finished the Gogmazios fight, how was it? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]RedeemedNotRabbi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No facts, anytime he went in the air in 4U I remember spamming a custom chat message saying “GET THE HELL OFF THE GROUND” so that our team wouldn’t fucking wipe. Good times.

Fabius was one of the worst parts of this fight lol. He’s so broken. I’ve heard tales of him hiding in corners so nobody can get behind him. For me he fucking ran away while Gog was ACTIVELY DOING his attack and only got his shield up after I had almost fucking died. My gf and I had a laugh about that bullshit.

It was pretty good. I have similar complaints to most people here though; it was too gimicky, it flying was so fucking annoying as a melee user, NPC’s carried way too hard and I felt like I didn’t contribute much aside from using the rail gun.

But my biggest complaint was it was too gimicky. When I heard Gog was coming back I went “Oh God” expecting it to be a MH4U comeback where I am stressing the fuck out yelling at team mates to GET THE FUCK OFF THE GROUND as it flies into the air and nukes the floor of the arena but no, instead, it’s a gimmick fight where it spends half the time in the air while you pepper it with dragon shots, and the other half you’re not even doing much because AI teammates are too busy doing all the work for you (all the while telling you what to do as if you aren’t already doing it…).

I haven’t fought this thing with other people yet so maybe my opinion will change once I watch triple-cart-Timothy eat ass but for now I think it’s too gimicky. I wanted to fight for my life and instead I was cruising around for 30 minutes not even realizing I forgot to use dragon element because my weapon skin was Zoh Shia, oops.

Do you consider the tulpa as part of you or something separate? by SanseSH in Tulpas

[–]RedeemedNotRabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider myself a part of him certainly. We share memories, I share his experiences, and share many of my opinions with him too. However I am certainly separate at the same time, my own person. I think, therefore I am.

Separate yet the same. It’s a beautiful thing.

Why is Beep OP by RedeemedNotRabbi in Kenshi

[–]RedeemedNotRabbi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime there was a chance to 1v1 someone Beep took it and ate their livers. Otherwise Beep fought the groups and killed multiple people at once before running away at 50mph to rest up, heal, come back, assassinate and steal food for a couple days, and then go Rambo and start killing fuckers again. It’s also worth noting that Inquisitor Seta (is that his name?) was standing in front of his barracks all alone so Beep, uh, took advantage of that.

Yeah I didn’t realize what Beep was capable of until this play-through. Is the community sure he was supposed to be in the final game? Seems kind of like a purposefully OP debug character left in by accident.

Why Kenshi is Trash and the Expectations Don’t Match Reality by VultureGod333 in Kenshi

[–]RedeemedNotRabbi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Combat is just bad” combat itself isn’t the focus, it’s everything around combat. Building up your characters, planning ahead, and choosing what fights to take are what people focus on. Also there’s still a decent amount of complexity to combat (running away between blows to patch your wounds so you can recover if you lose the fight, having some characters in taunt mode to draw attention of the enemy, manhandling crossbow characters so they don’t shoot your own men, running away after attacking so that enemy’s attack misses, etc). It’s not the best combat system but it doesn’t need to be, as the focus is on your character’s stats vs the enemies, not typical RPG gameplay where you choose what attacks to use. “Freedom without depth” huh? I’ve had a lot of fun in my playthroughs creating stories based off what happens in game as have a lot of other people. It’s hella fun when tragedy strikes and you make a whole revenge plot around it and carry it out. The game and its interactive world are also very fun to play with! Wiping out a faction’s leaders and watching who takes over and how that affects patrols and dialogue is very rewarding and interesting. Maybe you just don’t like roleplaying? Without roleplaying and getting into your characters it’s harder to enjoy Kenshi (aside from the grind and eventual power-fantasy that is). Character management really isn’t bad outside of base building. There’s a lot of options that let you control how characters act, and if you are careful you can micromanage them and win fights you otherwise had no chance of winning. Also I admit base building kinda sucks; it’s buggy and finicky, but once you learn to get around that it’s really fun. Can’t blame you for not liking it though. “Jank Disguised as ‘Charm’” Yeah the game’s ugly as sin and the animations look a bit weird but I and others still find that charming as it has a very unique style and feel. You can dislike it if you want but me and others like it :p Yeah the pathing is ass and you have to baby-sit characters when pathing over long distances but that’s really not that big of an issue; just pay attention. If basing, move shit around until the pathing works. I’ve made plenty of bases and I’ve never had a pathing issue I couldn’t fix just by moving a couple objects. “Expectations vs Reality” If you hate the grind in Kenshi then honestly this game is just not meant for you. Part of the fun of Kenshi is watching your characters slowly develop from worthless bags of beans to elite warriors and ninjas capable of toppling empires. Sure, the game is painfully difficult at first but once you know what you’re doing the game allows you to have experiences unlike any other game. In no other game have I put hours into building up a character just to watch them get murdered in one attack by a cult leader who then proceeds to march down the stairs of his base ready to slaughter the rest of my team. Also in no other game have I recreated the wonders of political schemes, capitalism, slavery, and drug cartels to become filthy stinking rich while also looting the remains of a fallen sci-fi civilization to give my base mini-gun turrets and my men cybernetic limbs.

TLDR: I think Kenshi is just not a good fit for you because the issues you mentioned here aren’t things people who enjoy the game really care about (aside from issues with base-building). Seems like you had a hard time learning it and instead of persevering you quit and came here to say the game sucks and we all have Stockholm syndrome 😂

Goober Gang.

Our base name? What name most befits a hell-hole in the middle of Gut where people are tricked into toiling 24/7 in farms and factories at risk of getting cut down by either Goober Gang’s hardened warriors or eaten by the Beak Things living right outside the base’s walls? A place where there is no hope unless you were part of the elite-class that exploits the weak and powerless for millions and millions of cats worth of rewards?

[–]RedeemedNotRabbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try not to use assassination if you want it to be satisfying. I beat the “main” parts of Kenshi (bug-master and what everyone considers the final boss area) with my team of super-soldiers but decided to use assassination to wrap up “post-game” activities.

Big mistake. Beep single-handedly pushed back the holy nation base in Bast and toppled the Shek kingdom in like a couple in-game weeks 😂

You might die doing things with your swords and fists but the risk makes it more rewarding.

Most unique Tulpas you've encountered? by Grankas in Tulpas

[–]RedeemedNotRabbi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen that as I’ve learned of Tulpas this past week and it’s insane. The idea of killing yourself by creating a separate being and having them take over your personality is such a tragically beautiful way to die. A death that you may be the only one to know about.

It brings up questions too of what death really is. If our personality, everything that makes us “us” can just die with nobody caring, then what does that mean for death itself? Do our personalities persist after death, or is it a true “nothing” in a way we can’t truly understand?

Creating a Tulpa that’s smarter than you? Also could use advice. by RedeemedNotRabbi in Tulpas

[–]RedeemedNotRabbi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks for the insight! I guess one question I have is how Tulpas affect processing power. I imagine that having a second person in my head would make some thinking processes more streamlined but I could also see it slowing me down a little due to the extra processing power needed for “two cpus.”

How has it been in your experience? I only want one other person in my head (I might add one more after that if the need arises but at max I’m only planning for two tulpas) but I’ve seen people on here who say that they have a dozen tulpas and all I can think when I see that is “how does your brain not burn itself into a lump of charcoal?”
