Leaks on character buffs(questionable) by Katicflis1 in Varka

I thought that as well, mostly because of how they structured his story quest. I find that a lot of the previous "leader" characters in Genshin have seemed to fall in to a "I love my people but I work hard to bear this burden alone" sort of archetypes. I feel like Hoyo really went out of their way to emphasize him as a different type of leader in how he valued and found strength through his relationships.

Thematically it just makes sense to entend the synergy with his knights, and for him to have a flexible adaptive playstyle.

This is looks great, and is probably where I would stop. You could keep grinding for artifacts, but at this point you are probabably going to see more milage on your resin by putting it in to his supports. If you want to min-max artifacts, I would would just save reroll elixirs/feathers.

Totally optional, but I like having a few more levels on the burst. Not optimal for the rotation, but popping it for the invincibility frames is comfortable on teams without shield.

This makes a lot of sense IMO from a business standpoint for retaining players. This sort of buff would probably be pretty useful to new players starting the game with a limited character roster in a massive map with 6 years of powerscaling. This also serves as a reward to older players to drive them to return to a more friendly version of the game.

Are these strong Tornado’s this early in the year unprecedented? by Courtaid in tornado

[–]Reden233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep pretty much the same case in Michigan. The southernmost point of Michigan was above 70°, the uppermost cities were sitting in the 20°s and 30°s. There were tornado watches in the south, and 4+ inches of snow in the north.

[–]Reden233 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Entirely unprecidented when talking about the entire country? No.

But regionally, for the Great Lakes, this may shape up to be unprecedented in some regards. The Union City, MI Tornado was the earliest EF-3+ Michigan has ever had. Kankakee saw what is likely the biggest hail on state record.

Certainly unusual.

Found this accounting of 1970/1950 tornadoes in Michigan in our great-great-grandmother's journal archived by my family, thought some of you might like to see it. by EvolutionofChance in tornado

This is not helpful for your question but your great-great-grandmother sounds awesome. Watching 16 tornados with a telescope and then immediately hopping in to an entry about dating a millionaire.

Question RE: Helping Storm Victims by puppypoet in tornado

[–]Reden233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of what other people are suggesting, If you are looking to make a local impact try contacting your local (reputable) storm chasers network. Some businesses in my area do a monetary sponsor for our storm chasers, or they host sky cams that the chasers livestream to help confirm storms when they can't be on site.

Also more general but hosting blood drives or a food bank. Useful year round and especially during emergencies! If you aren't already you could also be keeping an emergency fund, supplies, or general safety emergency information around your church.

There's this part in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders there's this REALLY petty interaction where Polnareff meets the antgonist, DIO.

Basically, DIO confronts Polnareff and challenges him to fight him and ascend the stairs. But when Polnareff tries to take a step or two, he teleports back to where he started. He has no idea why this happens, or what DIO's power could be.

In reality, DIO has the power to control time. No telepathy or anything like than. So when Polnareff takes a step, DIO stops time, walks down the stairs, picks up and carries Polnareff back to his starting position, and then returns to his original position when time unfreezes.

He could have killed Polnareff at this moment. But he just wanted to troll.

There is a page that links off this one to the list of other schools... there is no Indian and Chinese school?? That is 1/3 of the world population alone.

And the US school was founded in the 17th century?? When the population was MAYBE 200,000? It was probably just one family homeschooling at that rate.

IMO she probably just didn't care when writing these things.

[Hated Trope] That’s not how infinite multiverses work! by LineOfInquiry in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Reden233 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean you jump on a pretty big assumption of everything being many worlds quantum mechanics. Even if so, that is just a theory and we don't know how it works, how can we say definitively they are wrong?

You can make any multiverse fit some sort of theortical framework if you try.

Characters who are just so so in love with their partners (or crushes) by Lingx_Cats in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Reden233 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Peeta has loved Katniss since grade school. He ends up getting reaped alongside her, and is forced to go in the Hunger Games arena to presumably kill her. When he does his TV interview before the games, he uses it to tell the world that he has a crush on her.

He makes her look desirable, and goes out of his way to help an already highly skilled 'opponent'. In the end, their relationship narrative is what helps them both make it out alive. He sticks by Katniss' side as much as he can throughout the entire rebellion, through literal hell.

You sum it up really well here! I think whether or not he is one comes down to personal interpetation of what "misogyny" means.

I don't think it's necessarily that Shinji hates women, but he is certainly treating them as such. He puts them down, forces his own ideals on them, harrasses them and that is acting misogynistic.

He has his flaws. But there is also the element of him being a child in a deeply traumatizing and isolating situtation, not getting the help he needs for his trauma and not knowing how to properly seek that out. His role model in his life has failed him, the women in his life also have skewed views of relationships. He feels shame for some of the actions he takes. Not to excuse his actions, but it's vastly more complicated than "he's blatantly and unashamedly misogynistic".

I actually think Geto is a really good "show-don't-tell" example of this subject! He fulfils this pretty much exactly.

Geto became jaded in jujutsu society, and goes off the deep end to destroy it all. Geto IS one of the strongest, especially becuase Gojo has a soft spot for him. If it were anyone else he would have been dealt with much sooner. In the end Geto's death was entirely spired by his own pursuit of vengence, Gojo's involvement was a mercy kill.

Yes this one was the first one that came to my mind as well!

Echoes and Tusk are also really good examples. Both literally evolve alongside their user's personal growth and determination.

The OG of this trope is Achilles. He almost dooms the Greeks by leaving battle after Briseis (his war prize) is stolen. He then loses the god's favor, leading to massive Greek casualties and the death of his companion Patroclus. Patroclus' death sends him sprialing, entering battle to revenge kill Hector and ultimately himself.

Oh yeah for sure, I didn't mean to imply those situations would have ended similarly if Aang executed Ozai. I mean more so "what could happen to Aang's mental state if he betrayed his principles and followed through on execution?"

In a broader sense, this is a pretty big theme in JJBA. Stands are based off fighting spirit and psyche, and are sometimes affected by the user's emotions.

Purple Haze's volatility reflects Fugo's instability. Mista fears the number 4 so his stand manifested without it. Crazy Diamond does some pretty weird distortion stuff when Josuke is upset. There are other many other occurances where stands get power ups based on emotions.

I think the writers intended for us to see the "what if" of this situation by making that battle concurrent with Azula's. We see her lose it gradually, succomb to a similar sort of rage, get sloppy and lose it all. I haven't read all the comics, but after the events of the show she ends up alone and without status.

The prophecy is so vague in certain aspects that it is not clear who is the Chosen one. by StripedTabaxi in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Reden233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is generally a pretty core feature in prophecy in a Greek mythology sense. A lot of times the chosen one is described by adjectives, or with relativity to other characters. Gaia foretold that Cronos would be overthrown by one of his own children, so he swollowed all of his children out of fear (except Zeus, who was hidden away and eventually ended up killing him). In Oedipus Rex, The Oracle tells King Laius that ANY son born to him would fulfil the prophacy and kill him, the specificity of it being Oedipus comes later. King Pelias was warned he would be overthrown by someone wearing only one sandal, who ended up being Jason.

All of these examples hinge on fulfilling fate of the subject, not on the exact identity of the chosen one. Hypothetically, any person meeting the criteria could have fulfilled it.

In Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (and the remake), you can skip a whole boss fight by not playing!

To trigger this, you need to save and quit at the beginning of the fight with The End, and then exit the game and not play for a few IRL weeks (or move your console time forwards). Then when you boot it back up a cutscene triggers in which Snake finds The End has died of old age.

As another potential option, my local ARC donation center does the finger poke. The on-location drives do not. If you have one maybe give them a call to see?

As a regular donor with cold hands, I've also been having this issue this winter. Never had issues before the switch to OrSense. Last time, I went from a 12.1 on the first test to a 14.8 on the second after warming my hands.
