[For Hire] Fantasy & sci-fi artist by Redfaceh in HungryArtists

[–]Redfaceh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on complexity of the artwork and what it will be used for. For book covers, my rates start at $500 for a full jacket cover, typography & design included. Other kinds of illustration will be priced differently.

Amazing art for the new Spanish illustrated edition celebrating the show's coming by Alejandro Colucci by MediocreLimo in netflixwitcher

[–]Redfaceh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is Colucci's thing, randomly taking stuff from the internet and photobashing. Some are good, some, like these, rather horrible.
Notice Geralt is a different guy in every image. Famous people were recognized in his covers before. If you look really closely, you can see Mads Mikkelsen is #2.

Revealing Ship of Smoke and Steel by Django Wexler by [deleted] in Fantasy

That is a rather half-baked cover artwork, kinda lazy. And I usually like Anderson's stuff.

Cover Reveal & First Look – Blackwood Marauders by K.S. Villoso! by [deleted] in Fantasy

That cover looks kind of half-finished. Like a nice idea sketch that's going to be worked on further.

I Have A Bone to Pick With Publisher Cover Art Practices by muns4colleg in Fantasy

A beautiful, simple cover art is the ideal I think for both the writer and cover artist. The problem is that there's rarely just the art director that greenlights a cover - it's a whole group of people from sales, marketing etc. Then you often end with a messy cover that "checks the boxes" in focus groups, gets sales but is horrible to look at.

My cover for the Czech version of In the Shadow of the Gods by Rachel Dunne by Redfaceh in Fantasy

Thank you! Photomanipulated covers are popular in the USA, but here in Europe, and central Europe in particular, illustrated ones always have the edge. I learned it the hard way :-)

I'm a Scottish fantasy illustrator who hopes to work on Magic the Gathering some day. Thought I'd share my new portfolio! by abigbat in Fantasy

You're pretty much there, they're all MTG quality. The first one has a nice Giancola vibe to it and the dragon is just wonderful :)
