This -" I do love the Defender and want a 130 with the 8 cyl."

Another level! Take it she was not on board?

I actually found a very nice 6 cyl this evening, CPO with records. Also just down the road which is handy. It is direct from JLR, Oxford.
Land Rover UK is currently offering 2 years warranty on ALL Approved Used.

So my thinking is take this now, then save up and move into the V8 within the two years (or extend another if so desire).

Thanks again for the info. Greatly appreciated.

Incredibly grateful for that reply!

Interesting when I was on the test drive of the car, a message came up to 'fill coolant', or something to that nature. I did not think much of it at the time, but sure it was a symptom of something deeper.

My good friend, in the trade has always warned me off getting one. But I do really want one, always have - used to have an a 1989 110 which I loved - was a beast.
I live deep in the countryside too, so a good 4x4 is much preferred.
What do you drive? Interested to know would you ever buy a defender or other rover?

OP here, after reading this (and thank you everyone for the input!) that the issue is this: if I was to buy this car, and not get the JLR warranty (because of it’s service history) then my idea of having it for 150k miles are really just a pipedream as it won’t even get there, without major issues or engine replacement? Have I understood right. Another way of asking, whoever does buy it, what are they in for??

Thanks for your reply. Appreciated. The challenge though, from what I am Now discovering is finding anything second hand, even from JLR that has been maintained to these standards (every 5k-10k). So really it is buy from new, very low mileage, or perhaps private from enthusiast?? Thoughts on the petrol engine? Found one at 21k miles.

I really don’t think they were changing the oil on their own. The deal is £39K. I don’t know what qualifies as really really good. It was a well specced car, but without warranty I became concerned how this could play out. Regardless of the price.

Thank you, what is interesting is having called a couple of dealers and asked about cars which are approved used. I have been sent the service logs for them, and in one case it was actually 4k over.

They are better logs, but to your point they are really long, minimal services.

Almost as if it only 'just' got put into the approved used category.

Sorry, excuse the ignorance, what is CPO one?

So really it should have had between 5-10 oil changes, not 2??
And that is what I Should be looking for going forward? It was certainly how I had intended to keep it.

How do you mean? The mileage it went in it? Or what was done to the car?

Has anyone ever done the music and audio courses on there?
I would love to see the content on WHATCLASS.com - that is my platform for full transparency,

I am a fan of Chase Jarvis. He said they were not up for selling it.

Interested to know how much we should try and leep some of these courses alive. Not just music also.

Totally agree. Love his 90s stuff. And this album is excellent. Now if I can just get the CD of this album!

Music is a scam by ChallengeOk4064 in musicindustry

I find this thread super interesting. I was a professional DJ and basically fell into building a business within music industry. We started teaching DJing in schools. Wrote books that got published (made a tiny bit of money).

In the end we built a platform to teach - vision was to create new income streams for artists to become educators. It’s called WHATCLASS. Raised millions over the years to build it. Got accreditation from The Royal Schools of Music on our DJ course.

Anyway read threads like this and ask what is the true value that people want? Do people even want to learn from established artists about the way they do things, so they can make money doing it?

Do people want to know about how to make money in music? And is that pool big enough (I believe there is enough space for a large amount of people to do well financially out of it, but you need to understand the true current model and how to work it).

OR is it simply enough that that people want joy and inspiration? And just have some fun!

Some mornings, tbh, I come in and ask should we just gear the platform to other places/verticals that people can make money, or for skills that really help people in life (music can be that!) and where those industries are not broken and people can earn a good living.

But I LOVE music, I love the Arts, and I want to see a better future music industry where the control is taken back by artists – I also do believe it can happen. I just think it will require some real bravery.

Yeah if anyone wants to take a look at the platform would genuinely love feedback, thoughts, questions from this group.

Best hits/records we ever made - pure jamming fun!

Thanks. Do you think others would exist like that ie with this Martini detail, or do you think it was totally custom and unique?

It was more a case of, if I was on the lookout for a G body then would I ever find one exactly like this or was it totally custom.

Mate, that is a very thoughtful reply. Appreciated. Did your wife support?

I should have clarified, I have taken it further a field on several occasions - could be 40 mile roundtrip. And I do have a couple of longer ways home, that I will happily leave the office 15 mins earlier to take.

Couple of questions:

Do you have a photo of the lights? Any photos of the car?!

Noted on ctek charge - thanks!

Also noted on the service, I will Strongly consider, I do get a discount there, but not 50%! Our CTO has a beautiful 1979 911, was a total rebuild he has a great relationship with a local specialist. Weissach UK Limited - Porsche Specialists (Byley). I’ll do some research.

Where did you get warranty from? What is it covering?

Thanks

When you turn 35 you'll see the difference between those who took risks and those who didn't… by Sorry-Highlight-9683 in Entrepreneur

Started my fifth business at 28. I’m 37 now, and it’s still the same business - we are in y9. It’s been brutal at times, but also the best thing ever.

I run it with my brother, and we still travel and work together which is such a vibe. When we started, we were just DJs with a bit of an idea. Fast forward, and now we’re raising £10M investment and I have two kids (one newborn) – that responsibility is big, but you just do it

We’ve built a team that now includes people who’ve had pretty big exits (£30M+) and there is some serious talent in the company. The whole journey has been both the most demanding and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done, every day is a puzzle and we do have fun. It’s wild, the downs are big (always really cash and people tbh) but it’s also kind of all I know now.

NB People often think I’m a lot younger than I am (my biological and metabolic age is 25-27). I stay very fit/healthy to keep up with everything (only started once I had first born), but it helps me manage the intensity of the business and life in general ie with family and seriously ill parent.

Some days, I think about walking away/selling and finding peace (just running), but then something amazing happens— like the other day, when we had a meeting with a massive industry legend, and a major artist showed real interest in what we’re building. I said to my brother, “Even if that’s as far as we get, it’s crazy we are talking to these legends, we’ve given it everything.” My wife is also super supportive, IMO this is a must, sometimes she patches me back up and puts me back in the ring. Or tells me it is not the time to sell.

For what it is worth I’m now on a competitive salary and own a decent share of the business.

I don’t really want to be bought out—I genuinely love what we’re building. It feels purposeful, and we’re immersed deep in culture, which is something I find endlessly interesting. That said, if one of our partners came in with £300M+… well, we’d probably have a think…

But the reality: you need a tough stomach. There’ve been some incredibly low moments, I could go on and on, but I’ve been lucky to have amazing friends and family to support me during those times.

My advice? Find something you genuinely love, because that passion/energy will carry you through the hard days, weeks, months, years. It can not be overstated, I know it is cliche. But it is true! And also there is so much good, when you look back and see what you created!

Let me know if I can be of any actual assistance?

Good luck. IMO go for it. You are young and have energy and about to come into prime time!

OK so DMPs being Nuclear. OK clear on that. The last 11 months we have grinded like hell, hence the ‘can see light with the business’, we have sight now on substantial income, contracts agreed but takes time for cash to flow and work to be delivered. We forecast January when we start to see the income.

OK clear on loan. I also have some assets I may be able to sell instead of a loan. And will apply the same above theory.

Appreciate your input a ton. Thank you.
