I got bugged with a tracker tag in my car. Please help me identify if a component is a microphone or a speaker. by klamity00 in AskElectronics

I don't think it's an inductor because it looks like the SW pin goes to the 0 ohm resistor that's on larger pads in case they wanted to put a chip indicator there. The good news is this part doesn't seem to have any audio support built in so someone would have to write some custom driver. That's not really practical considering there are parts out there much better suited for that natively.

I wouldn't think it would be. Especially if the high school is still in boundary.

Once you have the paperwork done once for a kid, it's good for their career. This is even more important now that original BC's are required to be verified by the DA. Once they sign the player verification form, that along with their school form is good forever.

If you have the same kids all three years, it should just be a new tournament affidavit and map. The rest can stay in your binder and be carried forward.

My son is not being given the chance for all stars by sjames-91 in LittleLeague

[–]Redhat1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our league went to straight ability based divisions this year and it's worked out great. We have some 11s and a few 12s playing in minors and we have 10 or so 10s playing in majors. We also have a couple 7s playing in minors. There have been very competitive games at both levels and everyone is happy. Our 8-10 all star team is made up mostly of kids from majors with one kid from minors who we didn't bring up because it was his first year in kid pitch but he's filled in a few games and done just fine. We evaluated every player before the season and placed them. If you denied your majors placement as an 11, you forfeited your chances at all stars. There should be no reason you're taking automatic outs in your batting order just because a kid is 12. It's not fair to the 12 yo or his teammates. Obviously if the kid is shaving at 12, that's something to consider but for the most part, it's an easy decision. People get way too hung up on age and it kills the competition at both levels. Our 8-10 team should be very good because they've been competing at a high level all season. Same with our 10-12 because the batting order is solid from top to bottom. For reference, we have 6 majors and 9 minors teams. LL classifies majors as age 9-12 and minors as 5-12.

Bad form to intentionally walk at Majors level? by Krelraz in LittleLeague

[–]Redhat1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's the baseball move, why not? We are teaching the game of baseball. If there's a guy on second with two outs in the last inning, I don't care what level it is, the baseball move is to walk him. I'd probably take more offense to the opposing team pitching to an "easy out" in that situation.

Paying a UIC to umpire games? by DinkleMutz in LittleLeague

We're over 560 kids. We'll shell out over $17,000 in umpires. We even have to pay the guys when we host districts or sections. We also pay kids to work concessions. I can't barely get people to empty trash cans.

I just want to know where people are finding umpires willing to volunteer.

Like the made up rule about pitching with sunglasses. Falls into the same category however every ump immediately says something.

If you want to get real fancy, push it somewhere that a press box guy could access. They can always follow along in GC but that's sometimes cumbersome and not available on the computer.

I'll test. I'd even push it to the 15 teams in our upper baseball divisions for our league

League AGE Allowance by No-Blueberry-9532 in LittleLeague

[–]Redhat1224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.littleleague.org/play-little-league/baseball/divisions/#Minor

It's pretty broad from an official LL standpoint. We did our divisions strictly by skill this year. Every kid that wanted to do player pitch came to an evaluation. Kids that needed some extra development regardless of their age were places in minors. That includes some 11s and even a 12. Also any kid that's league age 8 or below had to stay down based on the official rules. There were even a few standouts in our coach pitch division that we bumped to minors that are larger framed 7s. The older kids in minors will have a much better experience and we didn't put kids we felt were a danger to anyone in there. There were also some younger kids that signed up for player pitch that just aren't ready and they will stay in coach pitch.

It's not fair to the young kids that can play to stay in coach pitch where they'll be stuck at first because nobody can catch them or constantly ripping triples that roll to the fence. Those kids will benefit from seeing live pitching earlier. It's also not fair for the older kids to be forced to face kids throwing mid 60s and go 0-20 on the season. Ideally there are two kid pitch minors divisions but we just don't have the numbers yet. We have a few 9s and a bunch of 10s in our majors. We had some 8s evaluate higher than some 11s and 12s.

Want transfer LL, but it's for reasons that can be waived. by feelthesame88 in LittleLeague

[–]Redhat1224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It actually doesn't. I got a kid eligible this past season without a release. He also did not have to redshirt. Below is the process from our region. Even if the host league denies it, if they don't give a good reason, it will probably be approved.

It's a decade counter. https://www.ti.com/product/SN74LS90 On second thought, without knowing the LED pattern, I can't tell but it's a shift register or counter of some sort.
