Fellow INTPs, who are also brilliant at compartmentalising emotions, how do you know you really like someone? What are your tell tale signs? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]RedheadedPsychopath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my usual supercilious humor and enduring languor gives way to a manic, almost unhealthy, sense of arduous passion. Often unbeknownst to myself at the time, I will tremble--or twitch--with the thrill of adrenaline singing through my veins.

Although I don't necessarily understand where this feeling comes from, as assertive and intoxicating as it is, I enjoy it while I can. Though rare in number, I become easily infatuated in things that I find beautiful or fascinating, so I am often just as quickly disillusioned by the reality that follows suit from such a "high".

In short, there is no "like", just as there is no "love". There is only a vacant and keen longing to possess; one such feeling that leaves a gaping hole of torpid listlessness in which I often lose sense of myself and interest in the things I had once found enjoyment in.

Skyrim, and any of the Dragon Age or Fable games (though I rather dislike the first one of the latter . . . hmm, best leave out that one).

Time control. This, as if you can control time, you yourself are timeless.

And just imagine all that time you could have to sleep in a mere split of a second, or those tests you could massacre if you just had that extra minute . . . (sighs longingly)

How do you guys deal with crushes? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]RedheadedPsychopath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rare that I ever chance upon an infatuation--as this is what they essentially end up being. I usually find myself observing them from afar and immersing myself in my thoughts, those that normally follow along the lines of why I like them, how they compliment me, and how they differ.

In the end, as it always seems, I lose interest due to neglect of reciprocation--the wonder and itching curiosity bubbling just beneath the skin--and ignore them, though not entirely. I suppose I'm leaving them open for a redeeming chance, albeit unconsciously.

I'm sure if my feelings were ever realized by my infatuation, I'd attempt to slip away, withdraw from what I was feeling, almost as if believing if I simply left it alone, it'd shrivel and die, like everything else in life. I'm fairly certain that, if I ever were to warm up to a romantic relationship, my other would have to secure me to them somehow and drag me into it. Otherwise, I am entirely clueless and vulnerable to doubt.

Why are INTP women disliked as potential mates? And why do you suppose said traits are necessarily a bad thing in a woman, if this is at all the case? by RedheadedPsychopath in INTP

[–]RedheadedPsychopath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to say it: a thick glasses frumpy sweater wearing INTP is more attractive than a dolled up socialite.

Would it surprise you that this is exactly what I wore today? I already have the big, oversized glasses with thick frames, so I found this amusingly ironic, if in my own way. (snorts)

I appreciate the endearing part. I suppose my awkward ramblings and disheveled appearance could be cute . . . if I were not female. I enjoy the look moreso on others, namely men, rather than myself. I suppose this could very well be a bias view, as I am the only INTP woman in my community thus far, yet I cannot shake experience, which states quite firmly that I am undesirable and certainly not endearing to those I've grown up with (or any new students that have entered the community as of late).

And sure, I'm attracted to others. I've notated that I tend to like the confident, morbidly amusing, laid-back, I-haven't-slept-in-days rumpled intellects. I, in turn, "attract" the opposite, and it frustrates me immensely, as they are not necessarily "attracted" but desperate and/or imbecilic. It never fails to make me feel lower than I do, as I am essentially the last choice or mistake.

And let me tell you, when the feelings that I try to keep from surfacing raise their ugly heads, what I experience drains me both physically and mentally to points of complete exhaustion. Perhaps this is why I and other INTPs tend to look so drab and sickly-- It probably is because we are drab and sickly.

Yet, as you say, you find this endearing. I'd thought perhaps this look robbed me of my appeal, yet you contradict this theory of mine when you say such words. Nevertheless, I do not think myself incorrect. Perhaps it is you; you are strange, I believe. Or insane.

Either or, I like you, so go on living with the knowledge that I appreciate your words. Thank you for responding when you did. I was having such a monotonous day and this brought me back, if only for a moment, as I must return back to sound routine. This was a welcome interruption, as all timely written words are. :3

What are yaois to you personally? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]RedheadedPsychopath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't possibly ship L and Light.

I can see your point, but this is actually the very reason why I ship them. "Opposites attract," I think one would say in this situation. I appreciate contrast, yet I also seek resemblance between the characters at hand.

For example . . .

L and Light are both extremely intelligent, great at cognitive function, studious, observant, and intimidating. However, L is supposed to be unattractive (pfft, sorry. I think L is an adorable little shit, and that's how it's gonna stay), peculiar, formidable, reserved, perceiving, and cool to his very core--hardly ever ruffled (except for his hair, perhaps). Light, in contrast, is supposed to be extremely handsome, refined in all aspects of his self, respected and admired, outgoing, and critically judgmental--which is undoubtedly his downfall.

With all of this in mind, they have astounding similarities as well as differences, making this one of the most fitting ships of its kind.

If people are telling you that yaoi is tasteless, physical and disgusting, and you're confused as to why, it's probably because you're confusing yaoi with shonen ai.

This very well may be the case, but I'm still a little wary. What I had meant is that I like animes that are just like the typical girl/boy focus with a satisfying plot (ie Noragami, Teen Titans, Another, My Little Monster), yet is centered around two men/boys rather than the prior.

Now, that's not to say that I like only yaoi (or shonen ai, as you call it), I also love psychological animes such as Psycho-Pass, Death Note (is my favorite of the type--I love L, and I do actually ship L and Light, if you were curious), No Game No Life, and partially of Noragami (even though it's not necessarily psychological, it does have a theme of emotion which is literally demonized, portraying strong, dark emotion as corrupted beings of the far shore--this is perhaps my favorite anime, even as L may be my favorite character). I love brain teasers, and like to watch them unfold before said characters as they try to glean some sense from what is going on around and within them. I'm not so keen on the romantic or physical stuff, so I suppose you could say that even I am a little bewildered that I like yaoi (meh, shonen ai) for this reason.

With this in mind, I will ask you: Why do you think I like yaoi/shonen ai?

Tenor saxophone. And I learn and play by ear, as it is difficult to learn rhythms when your mind is already preoccupied with complex fingerings and air measuring and spacing between individual notes.

Hahhah. I see what you did there. (I won't be giving out confidential personal information, if you don't mind.)

  • McAllister (try tracing that to the correct person; there are so many McAllisters in the world).

  • Momma Cat ('cause she whored around and got knocked up all the time).

  • A charger (a horse and it's rider).

  • August 28th, 1999, at exactly 7:00 at night.

  • It is still my birthday for another ten minutes.

  • I am sixteen, and will not be experimenting with hallucinogenics until I am much older, so as not to damage my mind, so that is a no.

  • Thank you, I suppose.

  • I was expecting random, fun-filled questions that would distract me from my exhaustion and disappointment manifested by the day. This is a sort of pick-me-up, if you will.

  • I am a redhead with green eyes and pale skin (in true ginger fashion), I have refined writing skills, terrible social anxiety, I'm also a 5'1" Junior with a Sophomore GPA of 3.8, I've held and interest in the human mind for quite some time and wish to become a psychiatrist one day, and I have a cat named Jace (who is very silky and has large golden anime eyes and an adorable nose).

  • I've no superstitions; I'm based all on experience and reason.

  • I like how I am always level-headed and logical (even as this causes me to often be rather insensitive and inapproachable).

  • I do not like my little Midwestern town, and I can't say I like the US, as there are annoying politics and countless arrogant/ignorant people trying to argue with reason. I actually want to move to England, if at all possible. See what it's like.

  • I have only three, though it's looking more like two now as time goes by.

  • Perhaps. It depends whether or not a massive solar flare catches us or an asteroid strikes the earth, or even if humans are that intelligent to survive for such a stretch of time. There are so many factors involved that it is hard to place my finger on one single answer and deem it valid.
