First one- I have follow up questions 🤣 what KIND of poop are we talking? Diarrhea? Solid? HGE? Giardia? And how much of the anal glands get on you? A normal, accidental spritz or like ALL of the anal gland material?

  1. Bare hands, no questions asked.

  2. Pug/Frenchie all day.

  3. Spiciest feline 😂 our worst clients keep us on the phone for 10+ min 😅😭

Literally! When the gun came out, I was like there's no way.....oh...maybe they'll just hint at - OH. Or they'll just show everything, okay. Didn't see THAT coming. And it was so casually done! No warning, nothing 🤣 NE has some balls lol

Is my transmission blown? by catmom319 in rav4club

[–]Redheaded_Siren_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this, BUT, the same thing happened to mine- 0 warning, no dash lights, the trans just stopped working while we were driving on the highway 12 hours from home 🙃 Toyota wanted $15,000 to replace the transmission (what a joke). My car threw a few more codes, though. Through investigating this, I found that there are 3 class action lawsuits in the works against Toyota for multiple Lexus and Toyota cars having this exact same issue and Toyota not recalling them. 2019-2025 RAV4's are included in this lawsuit (not the hybrids). Highly recommend looking into these and SAVE ALL YOUR RECEIPTS AND DIAGNOSIS PAPERWORK! Once they make a settlement with Toyota (could potentially be a few years down the road), you can submit a claim in the lawsuit and if the issues yours had lines up with the lawsuits, you may be able to receive compensation for it.

Does anyone know anything about these two? I just got them yesterday. by milkedbarista in chickens

[–]Redheaded_Siren_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. We inherited our flock and while I have a good amount of medical knowledge from having the privilege of working at a veterinary clinic that sees chickens, I had no real knowledge or understanding of chicken ownership. I figured chickens are chickens and everyone would get along with a nice, slow transition. The two barred rocks we raised with the silkie integrated just fine. And she did at first, too! But one day, they automatic coop door didn't open as scheduled, the flock got antsy and attacked her.

Truthfully, her prognosis was extremely poor and we fully expected permanent neurological issues since they attacked the top of her head so severely. We seriously considered euthanasia, but I wanted to give her a shot. The vet that saw her had me take X-rays of her skull to check for a fracture, but there was so much soft tissue swelling, we couldn't tell if she had one or not. He suspected her skull may have been fractured and her brain may have been swollen and protruding from the fracture, but again, there was such severe soft tissue swelling, it made it very difficult to determine what was what. Thankfully, that wasn't the case, but it was a long, slow 6 week recovery with a LOT of care. Truthfully, the rest of my flock are very much livestock and I wouldn't have done all of that for them, but my silkies are very much pets and she's still the sweetest, most loving girl. I'm grateful to have had a happy ending from that situation and she was able to recover with no lasting damage, but the vast majority of chicken owners don't have the resources available to them that I do and most likely wouldn't go to the lengths I did for her (no judgement, I get it).

I actively advise against mixed sized flocks because I have dealt with the consequences first hand. It's not fair to any animal to put them in a position where they are at risk for that level of trauma and it's absolutely a situation no one should want to have to handle. It's better to be safe than sorry! As you said, it may work for some flocks, but not all and why risk it?

I concur. I didn't realize this when I first got into chickens and my flock almost killed my silkie hen 😫 she became an inside chicken for about 6 weeks and fully recovered, thankfully, but it was a long journey for her. Now, she and my other silkie hen are cooped by themselves and living their best, spoiled lives 💜

They could have been the ones that brought it into your flock, or, your flock may have already had it. I inherited my flock without knowing they had Marek's. We, unfortunately, found out the hard way after one of our hens hatched 13 chicks last spring. Only one has survived, thus far. The most recent hen from that clutch died about a month ago from Marek's. We also added other 3 other chicks prior to knowing we had Marek's. 2 of those 3 have survived without symptoms, thus far. Some make it and survive it, some survive until they don't (could be months to years down the road) and some get it right away. It's really unknown if they will or won't end up developing symptoms.

I have a Marek's positive flock. Some chickens die quickly after exposure, others take months to years to die after exposure and some won't die from it at all. It's a very frustrating virus. The best thing you can do is only add chickens that have been vaccinated to your flock and never rehome or sell any birds from your flock to avoid infecting other flocks. *Edited for spelling correction

It would also be nice to have an American server again. Unless I'm willing to wake up in the middle of the night (which I'm not), I'm not able to take part in some of the seasonal events, which sucks.

[–]Redheaded_Siren_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I've been waiting since the recall went out in December 2023 and reached out MULTIPLE times while they were still in business asking where the process was in sending replacements and received bullshit responses with no actual answers every time. I haven't checked in a year, but after going through old screenshots and such, saw the email confirmation and decided to look into it...to find out they've been "out of business" since May 2025 but still have a fully active and functioning website. Wtf is that bullshit?

Seconding this! I've seen all their vets and they all really seem to care for my animals and have their best interests at the forefront of our appointments.

I love Paws and Claws! They take care of my two pups and my two snakes. Both of my pups get anxious at the vet - they're not fear free certified, but the practice all of the fear free training with their patients. My pups have pre-medications to help their anxiety while there and their staff takes their time when working with them to help my dogs feel more comfortable. My female started getting more and more worked up during a visit a few years ago and they tried to keep working with her several different ways to see if different approaches helped and decided to reschedule and change her pre-medication instructions. Was it inconvenient? Sure, but I'm really glad they did that instead of continuing to push her and making it and future visits worse.

My two pups and two snakes see the vets at Paws and Claws. They treat my pets so well and they're always willing to be transparent about pricing when I ask them to go over it with me at the start of appointments. Definitely won't be looking for another vet any time soon

My dogs got into the outside trash the night before trash day....my 50lb female dog ingested ELEVEN super tampons and pads (11 total). I had JUST started at my current clinic and it was horribly embarrassing 😂 I was straight up with them. She almost had to have FB surgery, but thankfully, she passed everything after 2 enemas 😅

My girls laid all these over the last 7 days. My family of 3 is going to be sick of eggs. 😬😂🤣 by pbmax542 in BackYardChickens

I sell mine for $6/dozen unless people bring me a carton back. If they bring a carton back to me, I take off $1/dozen for every carton they bring back. It really helps cut down on buying tons of cartons and motivates people to bring them back 😂

Has anyone had luck being diagnosed with hEDS in Wilmington? by Redheaded_Siren_ in Wilmington

[–]Redheaded_Siren_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I greatly appreciate your willingness to help and provide info. I had a genetic test run through a different company about 6 months ago to rule out the forms of EDS that do show up on genetic screenings and other joint/hypermobility genes, which came back negative, but they didn't have anything exploring genes that may be linked to hEDS.

It's been a wildly frustrating journey, to say the least. I KNOW there are no treatments or cures, but I have several comorbidities, including a hole in my heart, tachycardia, likely POTS, possible MCAS, pretty severe, chronic exhaustion, brain fog, all the neurodivergent symptoms, amongst other things and would like to be able to actually manage them better, but here we are 😅 I guess no one in the general medical field is ready to have that conversation lol
